Adaptability to market changes is what set this entry apart from its competitors to claim the title of Group Wholesaler of the Year. Kellihers Electrical has been trading for over 50 years, starting out with one store in Tralee, Co Kerry and quickly establishing itself as one of Ireland’s largest electrical wholesalers with 24 locations today. With the Irish economy currently in a healthy position, Kellihers has benefitted from strong local demand, providing great results in the process. It has continued to hold its market share and, through its buying potential, has remained competitive in the marketplace. The panel of judges was enthused by how Kellihers continually invests in upskilling its staff and infrastructure, including a new 100,000sqft distribution centre to ensure its branches are well stocked and remain competitive; the first wholesaler in the country to do so. Renewables have become a big part of its core business, and the company has invested heavily in training and promotion. Going forward, Kellihers intends to invest in its team, with encouragement for all staff to upskill and improve their knowledge and skill set. A detailed monthly training plan developed by HR for sales staff across the country ensures that training objectives are met.
Highly Commended Group Wholesaler of the Year CEF is in expansion mode, rolling out its presence with new branches in Navan, Galway and Tallaght over the last year. Judges were also impressed by its focus on staff learning and customer support, exemplified by its Focus Training Programme and TechTalks roadshow. An expert supplier of electrical products and services for professional buyers and installers throughout the Republic of Ireland, CEF has built its reputation on a high level of customer service. Each CEF store boasts a dedicated team of staff, trained to offer outstanding customer service and trade counter expertise and recognised as being among the best in the industry. Customers are central to the business and are assured of a superior level of service and attention, second to none. To ensure the best possible service, CEF has developed a highly-responsive and motivated organisation which can adapt to each individual customer’s needs and requirements. Staff pride themselves in being good listeners and are readily accessible to help customers in a friendly and meaningful way. CEF champions its staff to remain at the forefront of trade learning and development and this is successfully implemented through Electrical Distributors’ Association modules, TechTalks and the Focus Training Programme.
