A well-known figure across Ireland’s electrical industry, Edmund Cassidy made an indelible impression on the panel of judges with his expansive career, bold moves to open up new supplier partnerships, and business acumen. Starting out in the mid-1960s, by 20 years of age, Edmund was buying, selling and distributing electrical products throughout Ireland. Together with his father Frank and brother Maurice, he owned and operated Irish Industrial Supplies on Mountjoy Square and then CESCO on Vicar Street in Dublin. Edmund stayed with Irish Industrial Supplies when the business was sold in 1973, leaving in 1980 to set up CESCO with Frank and Maurice. Starting out with brands such as Tamlite, Geyer, Tenby, Winterwarm and Kaadan, to name a few, CESCO quickly became a key supplier to the electrical wholesale industry in Ireland. Edmund has been instrumental in CESCO’s growth into a leading wholesaler, pioneering imports from China and establishing contracts with suppliers in Taiwan, India, South Africa and Turkey, not to mention Spain, France, Italy, the Czech Republic, the UK and more. Since 2007, Edmund and his son Brian have been sole owners of CESCO. Edmund has worked remotely since the pandemic, but remains a key force in the firm.
