LOWER SCHOOL The 13A squad are talented, which was evident in some excellent wins across the season. They particularly im- pressed against Ipswich School, Manchester Grammar School, St Paul’s and KCS Wimbledon where they showed dominance with ball and bat to secure fine victories. Max Count led the team with maturity and brilliant leadership skills. His batting epitomised the way he wanted his side to play; particular highlights were his destructive 68* against Queen Elizabeth, Barnet and a valuable 49 against Ipswich School. Krish Thapar also developed his all- round game, producing some impressive performances against Queen Elizabeth, Barnet, scoring 84, and a pivotal 71 against Ipswich School. It’s exciting to see this group of cricketers progress into the Middle School next season. The 13B team also had an encouraging season, though results didn’t go their way, whilst the 13C and 13D teams will be looking to build on their positive seasons. The Year 7 cricketers had a learning season as they moved out of the Junior School. The A squad struggled against the majority of schools but upgraded greatly through the season. The highlight was a close victory against DPL, where Cosmo Maguire and Aiden Smyth combined to set 141 and a tidy bowling performance restricted DPL, leading to a memorable day for an ev- er-developing squad. The 12 B, C and D teams showed improvement and enthusiasm through the term and will be aiming for more victories next season. JUNIOR SCHOOL Junior School Cricket continues to go from strength to strength as the fixture list and number of boys playing cricket grows. During the 2023 season, every boy in the Junior School had the opportunity to play in at least three inter-school fixtures with no shortage of highlights. The Year 3s had an impressive first Dulwich College crick- et season, with many close fixtures, including two ties for the B squad. It will be exciting to see their development as a year group in the future. The Year 4s had great results in block fixtures against Dulwich Prep London and Hornsby House School; Matteo Steele starred against St Paul’s Juniors by taking 5 wickets for just 15 runs, including a hat-trick. The Under 10A squad played a friendly against Dulwich Cricket Club, with Raif Nasiruddin Lee scoring an excellent 42. As a year group, they had positive block fixtures against Hill House International Junior School and
their coach, Calum Basey. Close losses to Whitgift and Brighton College coupled with victories against Trinity and KCS Wimbledon mean the season will live long in the memory. 2nd XI stalwarts Charlie Jarmyn and Parker Canning deserve special mention for their commitment, providing stability with bat and ball in a team that was ever-changing. MIDDLE SCHOOL Such is the recent popularity of cricket at Dulwich that the U16A team returned to train and play separately from the Senior squads. They played a series of fixtures against opposing schools’ 3rd XI and 16A teams, with their skill enabling them to compete against more physically mature teams and to produce a fine win against Wilson’s and close results against Tonbridge and St Paul’s. Over the Michaelmas term, Year 11 House Indoor Cricket took place on a Friday after school. Matches were compet- itive throughout, but the dominant Grenville team won the competition with Jonson earning silver and Sidney finishing third. The Under 15A had a mixed season, impressing against RGS Guildford, Trinity and Eltham College, but losing narrowly to Brighton College and KCS Wimbledon. Alfie Veysey, Ed Brydon and Max Page provided all-round contributions to enable the squad to be consistently com- petitive. The B squad played brilliantly throughout their season, securing comfortable victories against RGS Guild- ford, Brighton College, Trinity and Emanuel and earning them the Senior School Team of the Year. Captain Ethan Goodhind and Dorian Todd-Miller starred with bat and ball respectively. The depth in the Year 10 was clear, with the 15C having successful matches against KCS Wimble- don, Brighton College and Trinity. We are excited to see these cricketers play in the Senior squads next season; they have plenty of talent and enthusiasm. The Year 9 cricket teams also had a huge amount of en- thusiasm, commitment and energy throughout the season despite results not always going their way. The Under 14A squad’s highlight was against Wellington College where Roan Kennedy’s century enabled a strong bowling attack to take wickets regularly and secure a brilliant 69 run victory. Ben Ketteley, Nathaniel Sawyer, Jack Hibbert and Max Reglar played an instrumental part during any success through the season. The 14B and 14C squads had challenging seasons, but they improved throughout and will be looking forward to next season.
