FOOTBALL TOM WHITEHEAD

It has been another fantastic year of football across the pitches of Dulwich, with the club fielding 65 teams and playing 358 fixtures. At training and on match days, it has been wonderful to see the tremendous progress made by so many pupils. There have been record numbers at training, and that has been reflected in another positive year of results across the teams. MICHAELMAS TERM During the Michaelmas term, the Junior School was a hive of football activity. Every pupil from Year 3 to Year 6 represented the College in a competitive fixture against the likes of Dulwich Prep, Hornsby House and Cumnor House. It is always pleasing to see the pupils making so much progress across the term. Every afternoon, they come out with smiles on their faces and play football for the pure enjoyment; it is lovely to witness. In Year 3, the pupils began their journey by focusing on developing their skills and understanding, which were put to the test in fixtures versus Eaton House. In Year 4, there were close fixtures against Dulwich Prep and Bickley Park, which showed how the teams were developing. The Year 5s took part in a thrilling afternoon of football with Cumnor House and Newton Prep, and although results didn’t al- ways go their way, it was lovely to see the teams trying to play attacking passing football. In Year 6, there were lots of positives, including the A team’s performance in the Royal Russell tournament and the C team’s 9-goal thriller against Bickley Park.
