BRITISH SCHOOLBOYS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS The team had another successful set of races at the British Schoolboys Championships in Wengen, Switzer- land, where they competed on the World Cup Lauber- horn race piste. Giant slalom day was somewhat marred by some aban- doned runs, leaving our teams out of the running for sil- verware. However, there was some outstanding individual skiing. Highlights included a ninth place finish for Patrick Jaques in the minis; ninth place for Tommaso Sabbaghian (Year 8) and thirteenth place for Federico Mohwinckel (Year 8) in the U14s; twelfth place for Matias Mohwinckel (Year 11) in the U16s; and fifth place for Philip Henkell von Ribbentrop (Year 13) and thirteenth place for Liam El Asmar (Year 12) in the U18s. Slalom day was again full of strong skiing. Highlights included fourteenth and sixteenth U16 place finishes for Thomas Watson (Year 10) and Marco Tagliabue (Year 10) respectively. In the U18 category Luke Meyohas (Year 12) finished fourteenth and Liam El Asmar seventeenth. However, most worthy of mention is the repeated success of our captain, Niccolo Smith (Year 13), who was crowned National Giant Slalom Champion last season, and this year became U21 Slalom National Champion. ◉
