Singaporean artist, Deborah McKellar in her studio. This workshop allowed us to create McKellar-inspired prints of what we thought summed up Singaporean culture. Back at Dulwich Singapore, we began our main project of hoodie making, where we constructed a hoodie, from pattern cutting through to machine stitching and sewing and finally embossing the surface with an embroidered design. After we had finished our hoodie designs, there was a large showcase of all the art that had been creat- ed by the talented artists from all the Dulwich schools, highlighting the students’ different skill sets and talents. Overall, the Art Olympiad was an incredible cultural and creative experience, allowing us to collaborate with local artisans and artists while exploring diverse mediums and techniques, and to enjoy Singapore from a new and exciting perspective. DRAMA NED’S COMPANY OF PERFORMERS KATHRYN NORTON-SMITH The newly revived Ned’s Company of performers from Dulwich College and JAGS travelled to Singapore to col- laborate with dozens of performers and technicians from the wider Dulwich family of schools as part of the 2024 Olympiad. The performance project in Singapore was shaped around the episodic Homeric odyssey: an epic quest, not just about gods and monsters, but also about a family fractured by war, in which Odysseus is a voyager, a pirate, an adventurer and a refugee. Against a heady backdrop of early starts, sweltering heat, jet lag and learning new ensemble material at speed, the London company were at the heart of a thrilling Odyssey performance. The production showcased ancient and modern storytelling and was truly epic in scale and scope, featuring a convergence of artistic traditions including Butoh, Peking Opera, Suzuki, Rakugo, Chinese shadow puppets and contemporary physical theatre. In addition to our time on stage in rehearsal, the company enjoyed workshops, backstage tours at the Sands Theatre and a moving and provocative production of Pangdemonium’s award-winning show Falling at the Singtel Waterfront Theatre. Congratulations go to Rufus Angel (Year 12), Olivier Badzioch (Year 9), William Beresford (Year 8), Calvin Chen (Year 10), Henry Findlay (Year 10), George Goo-
