Larysa joined the EAL (English as an Additional Language) Department in September 2022. She settled quickly into her role, teach- ing English to our Ukrain- ian pupils and supporting colleagues in learning more about Ukrainian culture and language. The EAL Depart- ment has benefited from her expertise, her enthusiasm for languages and her joie de vivre. Her conscientious
Solomon joined the Econom- ics Department in September 2022, fresh from the rigorous Teach First programme. He quickly made an impression, with his engaging and encour- aging teaching style, helping students connect to what is (for most) a completely new A-level subject. He has worked very hard to make the subject accessible to all, contributing to the team’s push to collate a more engaging collection
of teaching case studies, notably one which focuses on using air quality on the South Circular to illustrate negative externalities, and one discussing Caricom as an example of a customs union. Outside the classroom, Solomon has been a visiting tutor at Blew House and a form tutor in the Lower School. However, his abiding extra-curricular commitment has been with our Young Enterprise group, which Solomon has led throughout his time at Dulwich. He successful- ly helped us to transition this provision into the Middle School and has now enabled two groups of Year 10 students to make the most of this fantastic opportunity to develop their entrepreneurial skills, most recently helping this year’s team to acquire the ‘Team Journey’ award in our region. Beyond work, Solomon has been a friendly face to all on the staff body, never more so than in his enthusiasm for staff football, both on the pitch and in rounding up enough attendees to make it happen every Friday night! It’s been a lot of fun working with him, and we wish him all the best for the next steps in his career. ◉
planning and teaching of her lessons has enabled her students to develop confidence and a secure foundation in English. Their fluency and understanding of British culture have also improved dramatically under her committed tutelage. Larysa’s students are very lucky to have been taught by her and they will miss her very much. Beyond school Larysa is an eager traveller and after each break she has shared interesting tales about her trips around the UK and further afield. These stories have been full of fascinating detail, and her beautiful photographs recording these visits have demonstrated her fresh perspective on and unique appreciation for the beauty of England. Translation is another area of Larysa’s expertise; along- side producing documents for school, she has done some translation for a colleague, helping them to research their Ukrainian family history. Larysa has been described by colleagues as a very kind and caring person with a sunny disposition and a hugely positive attitude. We wish Larysa all the best for the future. We will truly miss the enthusi- asm and positivity she brings to all she does and we hope very much that she keeps in touch with us at Dulwich. ◉
