Artist Joshua Obichere from Skin Deep Education visited the College on Thursday 12th October for an exciting series of workshops in The Store as part of the Art Department’s Black History Month programme. With a backdrop of archival and contemporary photographic portrait displays exploring shifting notions of identity and Britain’s transfor- mation into a multicultural society, Joshua along with Years 7, 9, 12 and 13 created a series of canvases that documented 75 years of history in four distinctive chapters. The outcome was two large canvases joined together to form a structure representing a book. This symbolism underscores the idea that history is a series of chapters sewn together, with each chapter influencing the next. The workshops built upon the foundation laid by previous groups, creating a sense of conti- nuity and connection.
