issues against two lenses: how important each one is to our stakeholders, and how significant its impact is on our business. Bringing together that many perspectives gave us a rounded, honest picture rather than a top-down view of what mattered. Materiality assessments are designed to hold for around five years, so this one continues to shape our priorities without needing to be redone for 2025.
Not every sustainability issue matters equally to every business, which is why Garland UK carries out a formal ESG Materiality Assessment to pinpoint the environmental, social and governance risks that matter most to us and to the people we work with. It sits alongside our ISO certifications and feeds directly into our master risk register, legal register, and environmental aspects and impacts register, so the issues we identify translate into actions we actually manage. The assessment itself was carried out in October 2023, when colleagues across the business, including senior leadership, individually scored a range of sustainability
