The others agreed, and they settled down to rest, knowing they had an important job to do.
Star’s shift began just after sunset.
The sky was clear, and the moon cast a silvery glow over the pumpkin patch. Star trotted around the perimeter, her ears alert for any signs of movement. She kept her eyes peeled, determined not to let anything slip past her.
Just as she was starting to think her shift would be uneventful, she heard a rustling in the bushes. Star tensed, ready to confront the intruder. Out popped a small raccoon, its eyes shining mischievously in the moonlight.
“Hey! You’re not supposed to be here!” Star called out, stomping her hoof.
The raccoon froze for a moment, then scurried back into the bushes. Star let out a sigh of relief, pleased with her success. She continued her watch, ensuring the raccoons stayed away.
Daisy’s shift began a few hours later.
She was excited and a bit nervous, but she knew she could handle it. She trotted around the pumpkin patch, her eyes wide and ears twitching at every sound. The night was calm, but Daisy was vigilant.
Suddenly, she saw a shadowy figure near the largest pumpkin. Daisy’s heart raced as she approached cautiously. To her surprise, she found not one but three raccoons trying to roll the pumpkin away.
“Hey, stop that!” Daisy exclaimed, running towards them.
