Chapter 13: The Windy Weather Challenge
A blustery wind had swept over Maplewood Farm, bringing with it the first signs of winter. The trees swayed, and leaves danced in the air, creating a scene of lively chaos. The horses were gathered in the barn, watching the wind whip around outside.
“This wind is something else,” Daisy remarked, her mane fluttering despite being inside. “I wonder if there’s a storm coming.”
Farmer Jenkins appeared in the doorway, his hat almost flying off his head. “Looks like we’re in for a windy spell, everyone,” he said, bracing against a particularly strong gust. “I’ll need your help to secure the farm and make sure everything stays safe.”
Buck, ever the leader, stepped forward. “We’re ready, Farmer Jenkins. Just tell us what needs to be done.”
The horses quickly got to work.
Their first task was to secure the barn. They made sure the doors and windows were tightly shut and helped gather loose tools and supplies that could be blown away. Star, with her quick movements, gathered stray pieces of hay and placed them in secure piles.
“This wind is strong, but we’re stronger,” Star said with a determined smile.
Next, they moved to the pasture. Buck and Thunder worked together to check the fences, ensuring they were sturdy and wouldn’t collapse in the wind. Daisy trotted around, making sure the smaller animals were safe and had found shelter.
