Coronation Street

Railway Children Weekend FRIDAY 2ND – MONDAY 5TH JUNE £495pp To celebrate the return of the Railway Children to our screens we will enjoy a steam train journey on the very route that was used in the films production. Hear the toot of the whistle and see the tell-tale puffs of smoke as you set off through the picturesque setting of the classic 1970s film. Day 1 Be collected from your home in the morning and travel to Yorkshire arriving late afternoon at the Cedar Court Hotel Leeds/Bradford. Day 2 After breakfast this morning we drive north to the village of Bolton Abbey where we will explore the Bolton Priory. Ruins of a 12th-century Augustinian monastery was one of the ones ordered by King Henry the VIII to be dissolved in 1539. Following this we will board the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway for a return ride. Settle back in beautifully restored Victorian and Edwardian carriages and enjoy a unique view of some of Yorkshire’s finest countryside. This afternoon we make our way to the former spa town of Ilkley, where we will visit the famous Betty’s Tearooms to enjoy Traditional Afternoon Tea. We then journey back to the hotel riding over Ilkley Moor to view the ‘Cow and Calf’ a unique rock formation, named because of there being a large boulder and a smaller one sitting close to it, like a cow and calf. Day 3 Today is the highlight of the tour a journey on the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway the “Railway Children Line”. We will board a stream train for a leisurely ride along the line making stops along the way including Oakworth station that has been restored in Edwardian style and was made famous in the film. After our train journey ends we explore the town of Haworth, making a visit to the Brontë Parsonage Museum. This location featured in scenes within the film.
