St Agnes & Doc Martin’s Cornwall

A splendid 5-day break experiencing some of the area’s top attractions. We visit Barnsdale Gardens, Sandringham House, and Burghley House along with the beautiful Georgian town of Stamford. Day 1 Depart from your home in the morning and travel to Barnsdale Gardens, home to 38 individually designed gardens created by the much-loved, late BBC Gardeners' World presenter, Geoff Hamilton. We continue to our hotel in Grantham arriving late afternoon with tea/coffee and biscuits being served on arrival. Day 2 After breakfast we visit the old English town of Melton Mowbray. We have the morning to explore and maybe enjoy one of the famous pork pies from ‘Ye Olde Pork Pie Shoppe, as well as the local cheeses. This afternoon we continue to the traditional market town of Oakham, with many book and antique shops together with the towns heritage attractions including the Butter Cross, 14th century church, Rutland County Museum and Norman Castle. Day 3 This morning we travel to Stamford, best known for its 17th and 18th century stone buildings and timber framed houses. It has become a popular location for many period dramas such as Pride and Prejudice. After lunch we visit Burghley House, a grand 16th century Tudor Mansion, designed by William Cecil, Lord High Treasurer to Queen Elizabeth I. Home to generations of the Cecil family, the house has over 100 rooms and is set in 18th century parkland and gardens with a fallow deer park. Day 4 A full day excursion to Norfolk and Royal Sandringham, much loved country retreat for Her Majesty the Queen and has been the private home to four generations of British Monarchs and set in an 8000 acre estate. The house was built in 1870 for King Edward VII and many of the rooms, which are still regularly used by the current Royal Family, are open to the public. TUESDAY 11TH – MONDAY 17TH JULY

Miles of magnificent coastline, dotted with picturesque fishing villages and secluded bays dominate Cornwall. Explore its wonders including the mythical site of Tintagel and the pretty harbour village of Port Isaac – setting for the TV drama series ‘Doc Martin’. Day 1 Travel to the 3 star Rosemundy Hotel for a six night stay with dinner, bed and breakfast. Day 2 After breakfast, meet a Blue Badge guide to discover many of the familiar sites from the TV drama 'Doc Martin', including Bodmin Moor and of course Port Isaac - Port Wenn in the show. The narrow lanes of whitewashed stone cottages lead down to the harbour, a truly peaceful and unspoilt spot. Continue to Tintagel, an enchanting place forever associated with the legends of King Arthur. Day 3 Travel to Mevagissey, this is a traditional Cornish fishing village with houses clustered around the pretty harbour. Later we visit Truro, Cornwall's cathedral city. Day 4 Today's excursion takes in the picturesque fishing village of Padstow, its narrow streets and picturesque harbour quays are bustling with visitors. We then spend the afternoon at leisure in Newquay. Day 5 A free day at leisure in St Agnes. Day 6 After an early breakfast we sit back and enjoy the drive by way of Helston, past St Michael's Mount to Penzance, the most westerly town in England. This afternoon, we continue to the delightful harbour town of St Ives. Day 7 Commence the return journey home where the door to door service will be waiting to return you home.
