Summer & Splendour in South West Wales

MONDAY 24TH – FRIDAY 28TH JULY

A 5-day break of wonder in south Wales, we spend free time in the city of Swansea as well as visiting the National Botanic Garden of Wales and the Penderyn Whiskey Distillery where you will have a guided tour and tasting. We also have free time to explore Pant, Saundersfoot and Tenby. Day 1 Depart from your home in the morning and travel to Llanelli, arriving late afternoon at the Diplomat Hotel. Day 2 We head southwest to the city of Swansea where we have free time to explore the city. Maybe take a stroll on Swansea beach front, visit the national waterfront museum or observe art in the Glynn Vivian Gallery. We then make our way to Swansea marina for a relaxing cruise on the River Tawne. In the afternoon, we travel to the international award winning National Botanic Garden of Wales where we can observe an inspiring range of themed gardens that incorporate a blend of the modern and historical, all set in a Regency landscape with Lord Fosters Glass House the centre piece. Day 3 Our day takes us north-east to the small village of Pant where we aboard the Brecon Mountain Railway, one of the Great Little Trains of Wales, for a scenic ride through the Brecon beacons national park highlights being Ponsticill Reservoir. Following our train journey, we enjoy free time in Brecon before making the journey to Penderyn Distillery, home to Wales’ most famous whiskey. Here you will enjoy a guided tour of the distillery followed by a tasting of some Penderyn Whiskey. Day 4 This morning we travel west to the popular small seaside resort of Saundersfoot, where we stay awhile with time to explore the little harbour, before leaving for the short ride to Tenby. With the old town walls, interesting little side streets and alleyways to explore and superb beaches, Tenby is South West Wales’s main holiday resort and is always a pleasant and friendly place to visit. Day 5 After breakfast we depart for our homeward journey.

Cotswolds, Castles & Wye Valley

MONDAY 31ST JULY – FRIDAY 4TH AUGUST

We feast our eyes on architectural gems as well as the spectacular scenery of the Wye Valley. Day 1 Following collection from home we head to our hotel on the edge of the Cotswolds arriving with time to relax before evening meal. Day 2 This morning we have free time to explore Ledbury, which is home to a number of unique timber-framed buildings including the striking Market House and the large Ledbury Park house. We then have time for lunch in Tewkesbury before heading to Tewkesbury Abbey where we enjoy a 45-minute guided tour marvelling at the fine medieval architecture Day 3 We start our day at Sudeley Castle. With royal connections entwined in its, 1,000-year history, the Castle remains the only private castle in England to have a queen buried within its ground – Catherine Parr. In the afternoon, we take a scenic drive through the Cotswolds. The village of Bourton-on-the-Water is regularly voted one of the prettiest in England. We drive through Stow on the Wold on our way back to our hotel. Day 4 We spend this morning at leisure in Gloucester exploring its attractions, including the medieval Cathedral. This afternoon we head for Ross on Wye, considered by some as the best market town in the UK. Day 5 Departing after a leisurely breakfast we retrace our steps back to East Anglia.
