Join us on this fabulous holiday visiting maritime Bristol, elegant Bath and pleasurable Painswick Rococo Gardens. Enjoy a cruise along the Gloucester canal, see the spectacular scenery of the Mendip Hills and visit the amazing Westonbirt Arboretum. There is so much included in this holiday it is surely not to be missed! Day 1 Depart home area and travel to Marlborough, a delightful little market town in the county of Wiltshire for lunch to be obtained. Day 2 This morning visit the quirky and unique Painswick Rococo Gardens. Designed in the 1740’s as a fanciful pleasure garden for the owner and his guests. Take in the spectacular views of the Cotswolds countryside and magical follies. Time to purchase lunch here before we depart for Gloucester. Here we enjoy a 45- minute canal cruise with commentary, followed by time at leisure to explore the famous Gloucester Docks. Day 3 Today enjoy a scenic drive through the Mendip Hills via Cheddar Gorge to the lovely medieval city of Wells. Visit The Bishops’ Palace & Gardens surrounded by a breath-taking moat where we cross a flagstone drawbridge, walk under the portcullis and experience a true hidden gem in the heart of the city. We continue to Bristol, where the harbour side and shopping areas offer us a variety of attractions and retail experiences. We have entry into Brunel’s SS Great Britain, the ship that changed the world. Time here to explore this wonderful city before returning to our hotel. Day 4 We start the day at Westonbirt Arboretum, home to 2,500 different species from the far corners of the globe and 5 national tree collections. Take a journey up into the canopy on the STIHL Tree Top Walkway, stop by the café for a tasty treat! Afterwards we make our way to the elegant city of Bath, which was built for pleasure and relaxation, and has been a wellbeing destination since the Roman times. Opportunity to visit the Jane Austen Centre and/ or Roman Baths (entries extra). We also enjoy an included guided coach tour of this wonderful city. Day 5 We depart for home area stopping at McArthurGlen Swindon Shopping Outlet, housed in the beautifully renovated Grade II listed buildings of the Great Western Railway Works and is one of the largest covered designer outlets in Europe. There is a variety of restaurants to purchase lunch here. If the shops do not tempt you then visit the Museum of the Great Western Railway (entry extra) where you can get up close to magnificent locomotives, be a signalman in the GWR interactive Signal Box and drive the steam train simulator. The Isle of Wight makes a great Easter getaway. Enjoy excursions around the island and in the evenings the hotel comes alive with evening entertainment in the stylish ballroom. Day 1 We travel to the Isle of Wight making suitable refreshment stops on route. We arrive at our hotel with time to relax before our evening meal. Day 2 After breakfast, we have some free time in the popular seaside resort of Shanklin. We continue to Ryde, known as the ‘gateway to the Island’. This is the largest town on the Isle of Wight and has a prominent position along the seafront, free time here to purchase lunch and explore. We continue to East Cowes, home to the world famous sailing regatta. Take a look around the delightful shops and purchase afternoon tea in one of the tea rooms before returning to our hotel. Day 3 Easter Sunday: Visit the pretty village of Godshill with its charming, thatched cottages, medieval church, and tearooms. Afterwards continue along the famous Military Road to the Isle of Wight Pearl, take in the outstanding views across the Atlantic Ocean. Afterwards, we visit the world-famous Needles attraction. Day 4 Easter Monday: After breakfast, we depart for home making suitable refreshment stops for lunch to be obtained.
