Dawlish is simply delightful. Staying at the family-run Langstone Cliff Hotel overlooking the Exe Estuary, this is one of the few Dawlish hotels that are surrounded by luscious lawns and gardens, not forgetting the magnificent sea views that lead down to the golden sandy beaches and the Warren. With a region that has such a history, the unspoilt coast and countryside of South Devon makes for a fabulous summer break. Day 1 We travel to Salisbury for lunch to be purchased. Known as ‘the city in the countryside’, there are plenty of cafes and restaurants to choose from. We continue to our hotel and are welcomed by their friendly staff. Day 2 Enjoy a free morning in Dawlish, a delightful regency coastal town huddled attractively between steep surrounding hills. It was here that Jane Austen stayed, as did Charles Dickens (who decided to make Dawlish the birthplace of Nicholas Nickleby). See the famous black swans on the Lake in ‘The Lawn’. This afternoon we travel a short distance to Teignmouth, a stunning coastal town with historic Georgian buildings, long sandy beaches and fresh local food. Day 3 This morning we travel into the Mid Devon countryside and visit the delightful town of Tiverton which lies on the Grand Western Canal. The town is brimming with history and heritage with romantic castles, historic houses and charming shops.This afternoon we visit one of Devon’s most famous places to visit, the Donkey Sanctuary, where there are hundreds of donkeys waiting to meet us. Day 4 This morning we visit Buckfast Abbey, an attractive Benedictine Monastery nestled in a valley on the edge of Dartmoor. Experience the serenity and beauty of the Abbey. Opportunity to purchase morning refreshments from the Grange Restaurant before we depart for Widecombe in the Moor, a quiet village surrounded by moorland with links that date back to medieval times. Day 5 Return to home area stopping in Shaftesbury, famous for the 1970’s Hovis Advert on Gold Hill, for lunch to be purchased. Tall Ships in Hartlepool, County Durham

THURSDAY 6TH – MONDAY 10TH JULY 2023

Hartlepool in 2023 will once again host the world-famous Tall Ships Races. Quite an honour, as it is the largest competition for sail training ships in the world! The town first hosted the international sailing event in 2010 when 52 vessels of all different sizes sailed into the marina and they are expecting approximately 50 to 60 vessels in 2023 Day 1 We depart home area and travel to our hotel stopping in the medieval picturesque town of Newark for lunch to be obtained. Upon arrival at hotel enjoy a cup of tea/coffee whilst our luggage is taken to our room. Time to freshen up before our evening meal. Days 2, 3 & 4 After breakfast each day we will take you into Hartlepool for this special event. Programme will be released nearer the date of departure. On Day 4 this will be the final day all the Tall Ships will leave the harbour in a Parade of Sail. Day 5 After breakfast we travel back home making suitable comfort stops along the way, including a stop in Stamford for lunch to be purchased. Some of the streets have been unchanged for centuries. Many period dramas have been filmed here including Middle March and Pride & Prejudice.
