Amsterdam & Dutch Delights FRIDAY 22ND – MONDAY 25TH SEPTEMBER 2023 £654pp Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands, is truly an amazing city. Cycling is key to the city’s character so watch out for the cyclists as they have right of way. Also known for its luxurious canal houses and charming gabled facades, it is an architectural treasure. Opportunity to take a canal ride along the waterways of Amsterdam, the best way to see the city. Over this weekend we also visit Zaanse Schans known for its wooden houses, museums and windmills, and Volendam known for the old fishing boats in its harbour which is lined with seafood vendors. Day 1 Following a collection from home we head to our hotel, pausing at Melton Mowbray to stretch our legs. We will enjoy mulled wine and mince pies as we check in and a drinks reception before dinner which will be followed with in-house entertainment. Day 2 ‘Christmas Eve’ After breakfast, we start the day with a drive south to the City of Lichfield. Here there is much to see and do, particularly the stunning Lichfield Cathedral, set in a remarkable and serene close. Over 800 years old the building is the third on the site and is well worth a visit. When we arrive back at the hotel, warm up for dinner with festive cream tea and in-house entertainment, topped off with a choice of hot chocolate, mulled wine & shortbread to end the day. Day 3 ‘Christmas Day’ Merry Christmas to all! After a breakfast complete with a glass of Bucks Fizz enjoy a leisurely stroll into the village. Arrive back at the hotel to a glass of Cranberry Fizz before your Christmas Lunch. Later, relax and listen to the Queen’s speech with afternoon tea followed by a Christmas gift for every guest. Dinner tonight is buffet style and is followed by in-house entertainment. Day 4 ‘Boxing Day’ After breakfast, the city of Derby is our destination this morning with chance to visit the sales and explore the city before we return to the hotel for tea, coffee and cake. This afternoon, relax in and around the hotel, maybe enjoy a swim before dinner is served. The day ends with musical entertainment. Day 5 Departing after breakfast, we head for home pausing at Stamford on the way.
