1947 FIRST ROUND
GOLF WITH JACK NICKLAUS
Tom was 10 years old when he had the distinct honor of lugging his dad's golf clubs around California Golf Club in Cincinnati. Sometimes, Tom would try swinging the clubs like he was Bobby Jones. 1957 CALL HIM “TOUR CADDY TOM” Tom caddied for Dick Mayer, who won U.S. Open qualifier at Cincinnati CC and went on to win the US Open. Dick Mayer once picked Tom up in his Cadilac at Tom’s house - Porky Oliver was also a passenger.
1952
Tom once played against Jack Nicklaus in high school. (He did not share who won that match.)
1960 NEW CAREER Tom got a job offer from a member, selling life insurance at Northwestern Mutual. He was really good at driving the ball, but selling a policy was a whole different game!

FIRST HOLE IN ONE AFTER 78 YEARS
2025
Tom feathered his 3 wood for 144 yards on Peaks #15. None of the geezers saw it go in, but one guy was pretty sure it was headed towards the green. Tom says the greatest scene in his 78 years of golf was watching Rich Varda raise his arms and the flag stick - and yell, "I got your ball, Tom." TOM, CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR FIRST HOLE-IN-ONE!
