“At first, I was unsure of how the Spectrum inside print unit would impact quality – our business depended on it. I was pleasantly surprised to find that SUN’s unit met the throughput demands without sacrificing good print quality. We’ve run a lot of simple line work, but also full coverage inside prints in one pass and it’s impressive,” says Mac- Donald. “The new printing system gave us more flexibility and increased our capacity on our other Rotary die cut- ters. Certainly the Spectrum unit helps increase margin by reducing the number of operations, but press time is valuable, indirectly and just as important, this unit allows NEWW to serve more customers each day. Upgrading to inside printing wasn’t the first time SUN worked with NEWW to optimize and improve existing op- erations. A few years ago, SUN stepped in to upgrade its Langston machine. “They just don’t make equipment like that anymore. Our relationship with SUN is great and we knew we wanted them to handle this project for us.” Mac- Donald says.
