Proposed Bylaw Amendment

Current Bylaws:

Arcle IV Secon 2.b B. Councilors are elected by the College, and each represents a College of Diplomates constuent that will be as follows:

Eastern (combined NESO and MASO) Southern (SAO) Midwest (combined GLAO and MSO) Mountain (combined RMSO and SWSO) Pacific (PCSO)

PROPOSED AMENDMENT:

Eastern (NESO and MASO) Southern (SAO and SWSO) Mid - America (GLAO/MSO/RMSO) Pacific (PCSO) Councilor At - Large* (from any constuent)

* selected based on demographic diversity or experse

Background informaon:

The SAO/SWSO have started the merger process and have already combined their operaons with a single management group represenng both constuents. Their formal recognion as a unified constuent will take place when 50% (or more) of the constuents of the AAO have undergone a similar process OR when SAO/SWSO ask the AAO for formal recognion. Furthermore, the selecon of an At - Large Councillor from any AAO Constuent would help the College fill the posion based on demographic diversity or need. This At - Large Councillor would be eligible to ascend to an Officer posion and ulmately CDABO President. Therefore, a reorganizaon of the College Execuve Council is necessary to fulfill this mission. Starng in 2025 - 26, the Junior Councillor selected by the Nominang Commitee is from the SAO. For 2026 - 27, the Junior Councillor can be selected from any AAO Constuent, not just the SWSO/RMSO as the current bylaws dictates. An emphasis will be placed on finding applicants from Constuents that have not had any recent representaves on the College Council. 49
