Where will you see the benefits?

In your bathroom Fittings, such as taps and sinks, will stay much cleaner for longer. You will have that new shine look, with less cleaning required to keep it that way. Showering and bathing will feel silkier. Try not to use too much product as it will take a while to get used to and you simply won’t need as much. The bath may feel slippery at first, so please be careful. Outside It is best to water your garden with hard water as some plants aren’t happy in softened water. In most cases the outside tap is kept on the hard water supply. Some customers choose to have softened water supplied to the garden tap, so they experience the benefits of softened water when washing their car.

Indoors Some indoor plants thrive on softened water, but other varieties don’t. If in doubt, use hard water. Your hot water cylinder and pipework will descale over time once softened water starts flowing through the pipes. Not all fish are happy to live in softened water , some tropical and marine fish require special water conditions. Please take advice from your supplier before changing the water.

The products you use Softened water lathers better, so you will find you use fewer products; washing up liquid, shower gel, bubble bath, shampoo, the list is endless! With less limescale on surfaces, taps etc, you won’t need all those cleaning products and descalers. In your kitchen The amount of soap and washing powder will be drastically reduced when using your washing machine. Try out varying amounts to see what works for you, some people prefer not to use fabric conditioner at all as the softened water makes the clothes soft enough.

Use less powder or liquid in your dishwasher, and you won’t even need to use salt anymore. Glasses will now dry spotless. The heating element in your kettle will descale after the introduction of softened water, making it more efficient. The element inside might change colour once you start boiling softened water – this is perfectly normal. Your hot drinks will not contain any scale or scum residue. Cordials also mix well with softened water; you can use less, while enjoying more flavour. As well as tea and coffee not containing scale and scum, they taste a lot smoother. Most irons are designed to be used with hard water and therefore have built in descalers. It is not advised to use softened water with ones that do , please check your device instructions.
