Alleyn Club Newsletter 2013

Investment Dulwich College is extremely lucky to have such wonderful support from its alumni. Thanks to the generosity of our Dulwich philanthropists, 2012 saw important early donations to Science as well as the continuation of support for bursaries. These funds contribute to two of the College’s key priorities, the development of our historic site and our strong bursary support which enables bright boys to attend the College regardless of their financial parents’ means. What was so encouraging in 2012 was the increase in gifts at all levels. Although larger gifts will be essential to help us build our new Science building, the fact remains that each and every gift, however modest, is just as important and highly valued by the College. Funding for bursaries continues to attract generous support from OAs and this will remain a priority for the College during the years running up to our 400th anniversary. However, the Governors’ priority through 2013 will be buildings. Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor, matched funding is available until December 2013 on a ‘pound for pound’ basis for every donation to the restoration and development of buildings on the College campus. Help us meet the remaining £500,000 matched funding target today. Involvement We have received considerable positive feedback from OAs about our new communications programme. New Initiative – The 2019 Society Introduced by Peter Lyon (52-60), Alleyn Club Committee and Development Strategy Committee ‘As a member of the College’s Strategy Development Committee, I am delighted to recommend the College’s new 2019 Society. The College has established the 2019 Society in order to recognise those who make a gift to The Laboratory project of £2,019, with lower levels for young alumni and current pupils of £201.90 and £20.19 respectively. Members of the 2019 Society will have their names inscribed on the terracotta panels of The Laboratory and included in our annual Donors’ Report.’ It will take as few as 2,019 people each donating £2,019 to raise over £4 million ‘I applaud the Master’s vision for the new Laboratory project in which Arts and Science will co-exist.’ Christopher Field (51-59), Secretary of the Alleyn Club and member of the 2019 Society
