During this week long work experience program at St. Mary’s, students attended a multitude of activities, including the SAHPS talks on topics such as children's exercise levels, brain plasticity as well as loss aversion. They attended the psychology lab and gained experience on the mechanisms of EEGs, learning how brain signals are measured; took part in their own experiments, attempted certain university-level modules on the gut microbiome in patients with ADHD. Students compiled experiment kits for the active research that the university was conducting on how the drink Kefir has been said to improve the bacterial colony in individuals with ADHD. This experience provided our students with a valuable opportunity to gain insights into their next steps in education. It allowed them to get a preview of what lies ahead and acquire knowledge that they can effectively articulate when applying for their future endeavours!
