SINCE 1985 our customers have saved: 132 million kilograms of plastic
We’re proud to support multigenerational farming families like the Christensens, who grow peppermint on their family farm along the Snake River in Idaho. The plants are then steam distilled into bottles of Pure ™ Peppermint Essential Oil .
Benefits of concentration Choosing to not ship excess water benefits both the customer and the world around us: • Less plastic is used for each bottle of concentrate. • Reusable spray bottles reduce an impressive amount of plastic waste. One bottle of concentrate makes six standard spray bottles. • Reduced shipping weight translates into huge savings in fuel, which results in less greenhouse gases being produced. • Reduced shipping volume allows us to deliver your products in smaller boxes, which saves cardboard and also allows more boxes to be loaded into each truck for shipping to customers.

recycling bin or by evaporating into the air or being dumped into our wastewater. That’s why we at Melaleuca see our responsibilities as spanning the entire cycle, from the collection of materials to their final disposal. Choices add up Of course you want to protect nature, but how much can one person do? Altering your habits in a way that makes a real difference can seem overwhelming, but one powerful step is to simply align yourself with others who share your same values. Unlike competitors that focus on making a quick profit from your supermarket impulse purchase, Melaleuca takes a holistic approach to our entire product life cycle. From the first decisions made in design to the delivery at your door, hundreds of carefully considered choices are being made. We see each one as
partnerships with farmers around the world to ensure that the natural ingredients we use are responsibly grown and harvested. Our suppliers know we will accept only the highest-quality ingredients from farms with excellent environmental standards. The goal in the production of our raw resources is to leave the earth better off than we found it and to contribute to an ecosystem of sustainability. Ingredient philosopy Decades of researching and mastering the ways to extract the best parts of nature have allowed Melaleuca to offer products that harness nature’s gifts unlike any other company. However, what we keep out of our products is just as important as what goes into them. While some national brands wait
until regulations force them to drop harmful ingredients, we at Melaleuca take pride in our legacy of leadership. We never use ingredients like phthalates, parabens, or formaldehyde. And we were years ahead of competitors in offering safer cleaners that don’t contain chlorine bleach, ammonia, or quaternary disinfectants. Melaleuca has known for years that toxic chemical ingredients in home cleaning products take a toll on the health of those who clean with them. And in 2018, a decades-long independent study proved that using national brand cleaning products as little as once a week can cause as much damage to lung capacity as smoking a pack of cigarettes a day for 20 years. Some of our products, particularly the cleaners, are mixed and washed away. In this case, we take care to use the most
biodegradable ingredients possible. You want results, and we want to deliver them. But we also want to make sure the wastewater is safe because it ultimately feeds back into the same system that sustains us all. Innovative design Melaleuca was a pioneer in product concentration years before it caught on with national brands. Part of our innovative edge comes from a willingness to redesign our products and packaging as technology and materials change. In our EcoSense cleaning line, products have increased in concentration over the years to the current 12x standard. It takes our scientists years of work to invent new formulation methods for each advance. But our goal is to continually improve our products wherever possible.
an opportunity to be more mindful of our relationship with nature. Each choice is an opportunity to do good. When you’re shopping, you’re typically thinking about what you need – soap, snacks, or maybe even skin care. You’re probably not thinking of the story behind each product. As a Melaleuca Marketing Executive, you have a chance to share some of the stories and choices that make Melaleuca products a better option for your family and the earth.
