With world-class research centres, purpose-built suites of laboratories, and a city surrounded by parkland and coastline, Swansea really is an outstanding place to study and conduct research in Biosciences. There are diverse habitats on the nearby Gower Peninsula (a site of Special Scientific Interest, and the UK’s first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), in the Swansea Valley, and Brecon Beacons National Park, making it the ideal place for a Biosciences student to thrive.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT • Our programmes focus on the relationships between living organisms and the terrestrial, freshwater and marine environments, coupled with the interactions that result from natural and anthropogenic processes. • We conduct research across natural sciences, combining fundamental and applied science to provide a well-rounded research environment.

• Our research is focused around four themes, which are integrated with our education mission: Marine and Freshwater Systems, Behavioural Ecology and Evolution, Biodiversity and Ecosystems, Natural Products and Environmental Resources.
