A Good Food Plan for the Borough
The City of London ’ s historic wholesale food markets are relocating to Barking and Dagenham from 2027 – bringing new jobs and investment to the borough, including a new food hall in Barking town centre and food school to support local people to access good jobs in food. The Council ’ s Good Food Plan is working to ensure our residents benefit from this major development now, even before the markets are operating in the borough, by helping our residents access the food they want and need for happy, healthy lives. We are offering support for local food businesses and opportunities for residents to grow, cook and share food together in community settings across the borough.
