Western public figures have also embraced henna during visits to the Arab World, reinforcing its cultural significance. In 2018, Catherine, Princess of Wales [Kate Middleton] visited Sunderland, a converted hub for artists, where a teenager decorated her hand with a henna design, a moment warmly photographed and shared worldwide. Such high-profile events not only celebrate heritage but also frame henna as a bridge between cultures. Across the Arab countries, communities, families, and individuals remain deeply committed to keeping the tradition of henna alive, ensuring it passes gracefully from one generation to the next through both formal and informal pathways. Within the heart of society, transmission begins at home through henna rituals, such as observation and imitation. Women skilled in the delicate craft of henna adornment pass their deft techniques to daughters, nieces, and young women in their neighbourhoods, often during weddings, births, and festive gatherings. Across the Arab World, the knowledge tied to henna’s cultivation and artistry is supported by institutions, such as agricultural colleges that research and improve the varieties of the henna plant. Universities, ethno- graphic museums, and artisan houses also contribute to the expansion of this knowledge, while the media, from satellite channels to heritage-focused social me- dia platforms, amplifies the tradition’s reach and rel- evance. On the other hand, civil society organisations and cultural associations dedicated to safeguarding intangible cultural heritage breathe further life into the tradition through workshops, exhibitions, and public events. Beauty salons, now central to modern henna culture, not only serve an ever-growing clien- tele, but also train a new generation of al-hannayat , ar- tisans who carry the art forward with contemporary flair and ancient skill. Festivals and cultural events further celebrate henna’s place in heritage, promoting both spectacle and artistry. The list goes on, such as the Al Hosn Festival, Sheikh Zayed Festival, and the Traditional Handicrafts Festival in the UAE, Saudi Arabia’s Al Janadriyah Festival, Egypt’s Turathna Exhibition, Morocco’s Foum Zguid Festival and Moussem of Tan-Tan, Tunisia’s Henna Festival in Chenini Gabes, Jordan’s Festival of Cultural Diversity, Iraq’s Cultural Heritage Week, Heritage Day in Palestine and Sudan, and Algeria’s Lalla Mansoura Amazigh Festival. Henna’s story is one of enduring beauty, celebrating life’s precious moments and the joy found in commu- nity. At its heart, it becomes a conduit of blessings and a vibrant form of artisanal heritage, etched not just on the skin, but on the collective soul of Arab society. . تــزداد الحنّــاء حضــورا فــي المشــهد العــام عبـر المهرجانـات والفعاليّــات الثقافيّة التي تحتفــي بمكانتهــا الفنيّــة وإرثهــا العريــق، ومنهــا: مهرجــان الحصــن، ومهرجــان الشـيخ زايـد، ومهرجـان الحـرف التقليديّــة فــي الإمــارات، بالإضافــة إلــى مهرجــان الجنادريّــة فـي السـعوديّة، ومعـرض تراثنـا فــي مصــر، ومهرجــان فــم زكيــد وموســم طانطــان فــي المغــرب. وفــي تونــس، يُقــام مهرجــان الحنّــاء فــي شــنيني قابــس. كمــا تشــمل القائمــة مهرجــان التنــوّع الثقافــي فــي الأردن، وأســبوع التّــراث الثقافــي فــي العــراق، ويــوم التّــراث فــي فلســطين والســــــــــودان، ومهرجـــــــــان لـلا منصــــــــورة الأمازيغــي فــي الجزائــر. حكايـة الحنّــاء هـي حكايـة جمـال يتحـدّى اختبــار الزّمــن، تُضــيء برســومها دروب لحظــات الحيــاة الغاليّــة، ولتغــدو رمــزا للبهجــة التــي تنبــع مــن روح المجتمــع ودفء اللّقـاء. فـي جوهرهـا، الحنّــاء أشـبه بجســر تتدفّــق عبــره البــركات، وحلقــة وصــل لفــن تراثــي أصيــل، يُنقــش علــى البشــرة، ويُغــرس فــي الذّاكــرة الجماعيّــة . للمجتمــع العربــي كأثــر لا يــزول. ســـارة الـــمــــــلا، إماراتيـــــة تعمـــــل فـــــي مجال السياســــــات الحـــــكوميــة، حاصلــــــة علــــــــــى شهـــــادة الماجـــستيـــــر فــــي أدب الطــفـل من جــــــــامعة روهـــــامبتون في لنــدن. يـمكن التواصـــل معهـــــا عبــــر موقعهــــا الإلكترونـــــي ، أو من خلال www.amorelicious.com @ على إنستجرام. amorelicious
وتقنيّاتهـــن إلـــى بناتهـــنّ، وقريباتهـــنّ، والشـــابّات فـــي الأحيـــاء المجـــاورة، غالبـــا خــــــلال حفــــــــلات الزّفــــــــــاف، والـــــولادات، والتجمّعــــــــات الاحتفاليّــــــــة. فــي جميــع أنحــاء العالــم العربــيّ، تقّــدم مؤسّسـات خاصّة الدّعم للمعرفة المرتبطة بزراعــة الحنّــاء وفنّهــا، مثــل الكليّــات الزراعيّـــــــة التــي تقــود بحوثــا عــن أنــواع نبــات الحنّـــــــــاء وتعمــــــــل علــى تحســينها. كمــــــــا تساهــــــــــم الجامعـــــــات، والمتاحـــــف الإثنوغرافيّــــــة، وبيـــــوت الحرفيّيــــــن فـــــي توسـيع هـذه المعرفـة، بينمـا تعمـل وسـائل الإعــــــــلام، مــــــن القنــوات الفضائيّـــــــــــة إلــى منصّــات التواصــل الاجتماعــي التــي تركّــز علـــــى التّــــــراث، علــى تعزيــز انتشــار هــذا التّقليــد وأهميّتــه. أمّا مؤسّسات المجتمع المدني والجمعيّات الثقافيّـة المعنيّـة بالحفـاظ علـى التّـراث الثقافـي غيـر المـاديّ، فتضـخ فـي ثقافـة الحنّـــــــاء دمـــــاء جديـــــدة عبــــــر الــــــــــورش والمعـــارض والفعاليّـــــات العامّـــــة، فتفتـــــح المجـال لتجربـة الحنّـاء خـارج نطاقهـا التقليـــــديّ. وفي قلــــب المشهــــــد المعاصر، تحتـل صالونـات الجمــــال مكانـة محوريّـة؛ فهـي لا تخـدم فقـط قاعـدة متزايـدة مـن الزّبائـن، بـل تُـدرّب أيضــــــــا جيــــــلا جديــــــدا مـن فنّانـــــــات الحنّــــــاء، أو “الـحَنَّـايــــــــــات” اللاّتـي يحملـن هـذا الفـن إلـى الأمام بلمسـة عصريّـة ومهـارة متوارثـة.
