W When HRH Prince William initiated The Earthshot Prize in 2020, he wasn’t trying to reinvent the wheel – he was trying to reinvent our collective imagination. Modelled after US President John F Kennedy’s Moonshot challenge to land a man on the moon within a decade, the Earthshot is a call to arms for one of the most critical missions of our time: to repair the planet by the end of this decade. As the Founder and President of The Earthshot Prize, HRH Prince Wil- liam’s inspiration came from the audacity of the 1962 Moonshot – a col- The Earthshot Prize, a global environmental award established by HRH Prince William to champion innovative solutions to the planet’s most pressing issues, will hold its 2025 awards ceremony in Rio de Janeiro this November. ، ستتّجه 2025 العالم على موعد مع لحظة فارقة تُشعل شرارة الأمل والعمل معاً. في نوفمبر الأنظار إلى ريو دي جانيرو التي ستشهد حدثا بيئيّا استثنائيّا يَعِد بإعادة رسم مستقبل الأرض: حفل توزيع جوائز “إيرث شوت”، وهي مبادرة أطلقها الأمير ويليام، احتفاء بأكثر الحلول ابتكارا وجرأة في مواجهة التحدّيات البيئيّة الملحّة. لـم يكـن الأميـر ويليـام يسـعى لإعـادة اختـراع المسـتحيل عندمـا أطلـق ، بـل كان يرمـي إلـى إعـادة إيقـاظ 2020 جائـزة “إيـرث شـوت” فـي عـام الخيـال الجماعـي للإنسـانيّة. اسـتلهم الأميـر فكـرة الجائـزة مـن تحـدّي “مــون شــوت” التاريخــي الــذي أطلقــه الرئيــس الأمريكــي جــون إف. كينيـدي، فـي سـتينيّات القـرن الماضـي، بهـدف أن يطـأ رجل سـطح القمر خـال عقـد واحـد مـن الزمـن. واليـوم، تضـع “إيرث شـوت” نصـب عينيها مهمّــة أعمـق وأشـد إلحاحـاً: إصـاح كوكـب الأرض قبـل أن يطـوي هـذا العقــد صفحتــه. ففــي عالــم تتعاظــم فيــه الكارثــة المناخيّــة وتقــل فيــه مســاحات الأمــل، تطــرح مبــادرة “إيــرث شــوت” رؤيــة مختلفــة تعطــي الرجــاء معنــى ملموســاً، فتبــرز كمنصّــة عالميّــة تســعى لاكتشــاف ألمــع الأفـكار، وتوسـيع نطـاق الحلـول المبتكـرة، وتقديـم الدّعـم الـذي يحوّلهـا إلـى واقـع، فـي مسـعى لإعـادة تشـكيل عاقتنـا بـالأرض. اســتقى الأميــر ويليــام فكرتــه مــن تحــدّي “مــون شــوت” الجــريء عــام ، الـذي نجـح فـي حشـد العلمـاء والمهندسـين والحكومـات لتحقيق 1962 مـا كان يُعـد يومـا ضربـا مـن المسـتحيل. وقـد آمـن إيمانـا راسـخا بقـدرة الإنســانيّة علــى اســتدعاء تلــك الــرّوح الجماعيّــة الممزوجــة بالإبــداع البشـري والشـعور المُلـح بالمسـؤوليّة، لمواجهـة أعظـم التحدّيـات البيئيّــة التـي يواجههـا كوكبنـا.

He believes in harnessing that same spirit of human ingenuity and urgency to confront the greatest environmen- tal challenges of our time. “The Earthshot Prize exists to champion the game-changers, the makers, the creatives, the leaders,” he declared. “When they win, we all win.” And so The Earthshot Prize was born: a GBP 50 million, 10-year initiative that awards GBP million each to five winners annually. But the impact goes far beyond the prize money. Each year, 15 finalists are selected and welcomed into The Earthshot Fi- nalist Programme, receiving tailored mentorship, technical resources, access to a powerful network of global partners including leading phi- lanthropists, investors, businesspeople, strategists and experts, and opportunities to dramatically grow their businesses. This is not charity – it’s catalytic capital. It’s designed to supercharge change. What makes the Prize unique is its clarity of purpose, structured around five ambitious, measurable and interconnected goals known as the Earthshots. Together, they form a bold blueprint for environmental re- covery and a healthier future. One Earthshot aims to protect and revital- ise nature, calling for a renaissance in biodiversity through ecosystem restoration, reforestation and regenerative agriculture, safeguarding forests, wetlands, peatlands and wildlife corridors. It envisions a world where we become stewards of the land rather than despoilers. Another Earthshot seeks to clean our air, preventing the burning of fields, for- ests and waste and transitioning to green transportation for all. This ensures breathable, healthy skies for everyone – especially those in the world’s most polluted cities, where air quality can mean the difference between life and death. لم

وقـد صـرّح الأميـر ويليـام قائـاً: “جائـزة “إيـرث شـوت” وُجـدت لتحتفي بالمبدعيــن، بالمفكّريــن، بصنّــاع التغييــر، بالقــادة... فعندمــا يفــوزون، نفــوز جميعــاً.” ومــن هنــا انطلقــت المبــادرة كخطّــة طموحــة علــى مــدى مليـون جنيـه إسـترلينيّ، تمنـح سـنويّا خمسـة 50 عشـر سـنواتٍ، بقيمـة فائزيــن جائــزة قدرهــا مليــون جنيــه إســترليني لــكل منهــم. لكــن القيمــة الحقيقيّــة تتجــاوز المبلــغ المالــيّ؛ فــكل عــامٍ، يتــم اختيــار مرشّــحا نهائيّــا لانضمــام إلــى “برنامــج إيــرث شــوت للمرشّــحين 15 النهائيّيــن”، حيــث يحصلــون علــى إرشــاد متخصّــصٍ، ودعــم تقنــيّ، وفرصــة لانضمــام إلــى شــبكة عالميّــة مــن الشّــركاء تضــم قــادة فــي مجــالات الأعمــال، وخبــراء، ومســتثمرين، ومخطّطيــن اســتراتيجيّين يؤمنــون بــأن التغييــر يبــدأ بالفعــل، لا بالــكام. وهــي ليســت منحــة خيريّــة، بـل رأس مـال مُحفّــز لإطـاق العنـان للحلـول، وتسـريع وتيرتهـا قبــل فــوات الأوان. مــا يميّــز جائــزة “إيــرث شــوت” عــن غيرهــا مــن المبــادرات البيئيّــة هــو وضـوح هدفهـا، الـذي يتجسّــد فـي خمسـة أهـداف طموحـة ومترابطـة. تُشــكل هــذه الأهــداف معــا خارطــة طريــق جريئــة لإنعــاش البيئــة وصناعــة مســتقبل أكثــر صحــة للكوكــب وســكّانه. أحـد هـذه الأهـداف يسـعى إلـى حمايـة الطّبيعـة وإنعاشـها، مناديـا بعصـر جديــد مــن التنــوّع البيولوجــيّ، مــن خــال اســتعادة الأنظمــة البيئيّــة، وإعـادة تشـجير الغابـات، وتبنّــي الزّراعـة التجديديّــة، التـي تُعيـد للتّــراب خصوبتــه وللتنــوّع البيولوجــي ازدهــاره، ويشــمل ذلــك حمايــة الغابــات والمناطـق الرطبـة وممـرّات الحيـاة البريّــة. إنّــه يتطلّــع إلـى عالـم نصبـح فيـه حرّاسـا لهـذه الأرض، لا مخرّبيـن لهـا.
