البشـري لا يقـل عنهـا عظمـةً. فبالدّعـم المناسـب، يمكـن للمبتكريـن تحويـل نفايـات زهـور المعابـد إلـى جلـود قابلـة للتحلّل الحيـويّ، وتعديل الجـرّارات فـي المـزارع النّائيـة لتحويـل مخلّفـات المحاصيـل إلـى وقـود وسـماد، وإعـادة صياغـة اسـتراتيجيّات مـدن بأكملهـا مـن “الاسـتخدام والتخلّـص” إلـى “إعـادة التّفكيـر وإعـادة الاسـتخدام”. وهـذه ليسـت سـوى البدايـة. ، تسـعى جائـزة “إيـرث شـوت” إلـى مـا هـو أبعـد مـن 2030 بحلـول عـام دعــم حلــول الفائزيــن الخمســين؛ فهــي ترمــي إلــى توســيع نطــاق مئــات الحلــول الأخــرى وإعــادة تشــكيل أنظمــة أساســيّة، بــدءا مــن الزراعــة ووصــولا إلــى النقــل والطاقــة. فالغايــة لا تقــف عنــد تكريــم الأفــكار، بــل تمتــد إلــى تهيئــة بيئــة خصبــة تمكّنهــا مــن النمــو والازدهــار. إنّهــا أيضــا محاولــة لتغييــر الســرديّة الســائدة حــول التغيّــر المناخــيّ، وتحويلهـا مـن قصّــة خـوف إلـى قصّــة إمكانـات وفـرص. فـ“إيرث شـوت” هـي أكثـر مـن حلـول بيئيّــة، إنّهـا قصـص عـن براعـة الإنسـان، ومرونتـه، وقدرتـه علـى العمـل الجماعـي حيـن يتوفّــر الإيمـان المشـترك. هـي دليـل علــى أن العالــم الــذي نصبــو إليــه لا يــزال فــي متنــاول أيدينــا، إذا مــا اخترنــا أن نجعلــه حقيقــة. فـي جوهرهـا، “إيـرث شـوت” لا تقتصـر علـى مكافـأة الابتـكار، إنّهـا تـدور حــول رســم مامــح مســتقبل يقــوده الإبــداع والتعاطــف والتّعــاون... وتذكيــر قــوي بأنّنــا لســنا عاجزيــن، وأن أعظــم تحدّيــات عصرنــا، قــد تكــون فــي الوقــت نفســه أعظــم الفــرص. حوار مع جيسون كناوف، الرئيس التنفيذي لجائزة “إيرث شوت” حدّثنــا عــن قصّــة انطــاق جائــزة “إيــرث شــوت”، ومــا الــذي حفّــز ؟ 2020 الأميـر ويليـام علـى إطاقهـا؟ وكيـف تطـوّرت رؤيتـه منـذ عـام بـدأت فكـرة جائـزة “إيـرث شـوت” مـن حـوار دار خـال الزيـارة التـي قـام . 2018 بهــا الأميــر ويليــام إلــى ناميبيــا وتنزانيــا وكينيــا فــي أواخــر عــام لاحــظ ســموّه الفجــوة الهائلــة بيــن حالــة التشــاؤم واليــأس التــي كانــت تهيمـن علـى النقـاش البيئـي العالمـيّ، وبيـن الصّابة والإبـداع والإيجابيّة التـي يتمتّــع بهـا أولئـك الذيـن يعملـون علـى الخطـوط الأماميّــة لمواجهـة التغيّــر المناخـيّ. أراد الأميـر بنـاء منصّــة لدعـم هـؤلاء الأشـخاص، منصّــة يغذّيهـا الشـعور بالإلحـاح والتفـاؤل، وتكـون قـادرة علـى إحـداث تغييـر حقيقـيّ، وإلهـام الآخريـن للقيـام بدورهـم. ، وفــي دوراتنــا الأربــع 2020 تــم إطــاق جائــزة “إيــرث شــوت” فــي عــام فائـزا مـن 20 متأهّــا للمرحلـة النهائيّــة، و 60 الأولـى، قمنـا بتكريـم ودعـم كل ركــن مــن أركان العالــم، ومــن مختلــف شــرائح المجتمــع والقطاعــات الاقتصاديّــة. أصبحــت الجائــزة الآن أرقــى جائــزة بيئيّــة فــي العالــم، تدعـم القـادة فـي مجـالات المحيطـات، والنفايـات، والطبيعـة، والمنـاخ، وتلــوّث الهــواء. لقـد ظلّــت رؤيـة الأميـر ثابتـةً، ولكـن طموحـه حـول مـا يمكـن أن تقدّمـه “إيــرث شــوت” للكوكــب قــد توسّــع بشــكل كبيــر. وهــو يركّــز الآن علــى تطبيــق الحلــول التــي تكرّمهــا الجائــزة فــي القطــاع الاقتصــاديّ، وعلــى دعــم كل رائــد ينتمــي إلــى مجتمعنــا. مــا يحفّــزه هــو تحقيــق تأثيــر حقيقــي وملمــوس يعــود بالنّفــع علــى النّــاس والكوكــب. الجائــزة مســتوحاة مــن تحــدّي “مــون شــوت” التاريخــيّ. مــا الــذي يجعــل هــذه الجائــزة، التــي تقابلهــا فــي المجــال البيئــيّ، ممكنــة التّحقيـق خـال هـذا العقـد؟ وكيـف يُشـكّل مفهـوم “التفـاؤل المُلـحّ” ركيــزة لاســتراتيجيّتكم؟ حيـن تحـدّى الرئيـس الأمريكـي جـون إف. كينيـدي أبنـاء جيلـه بإنـزال إنسـان علـى سـطح القمـر قبـل نهايـة السـتينيّات، شـدّد علـى أن القيمـة تكمــن فــي صعوبــة الهــدف، لا فــي ســهولته، لأنّــه يســتنهض أفضــل مــا لديهــم مــن طاقــات ومهــارات. أمّــا فــي عشــرينيّات هــذا القــرن، فالتحــدّي الأعظــم لا يتمثّــل فــي الوصــول إلــى القمــر، بــل فــي اغتنــام الفــرص الهائلــة المتاحــة لحمايــة كوكبنــا واســتعادته، وإعــادة تشــكيل اقتصاداتنــا بمــا يجعلهــا أكثــر
to protect and restore our planet and transform our economies to make everyone wealthier and healthier. That’s why the Moonshot of our time is really an Earthshot. At the core of our mission is a simple equation: Urgency + Optimism = Action. We believe that we must accept that this challenge is difficult and pressing, just as the challenge to reach the moon was. We use The Earthshot Prize to show everyone that the solutions to our chal- lenges really do exist; we just have to back them. This sense of urgent optimism, we believe, will drive historic action to rise to the greatest challenges of our time. The Earthshot Prize focuses on five key Earthshots. How were these five categories chosen, and why are they especially critical to tackling the environmental crisis today? Chosen with leading environmental experts, these five categories or Earthshots target the planet’s most urgent challenges: Protect and Restore Nature; Clean Our Air; Revive Our Oceans; Build a Waste-Free World; and Fix Our Climate. Each of these Earthshots are huge missions with a diverse set of solutions required to deliver them. But we wanted to keep the language simple to be as inclusive as we could be of the wide range of people who are needed to make the Earthshot Decade a success. How do you ensure a truly global reach when searching for and supporting climate solutions? How do you overcome geographic and systemic barriers? We ensure global reach through our rigorous search and select process with over 400 official nominators based in 75 countries and solutions submitted from more than 140 countries. We believe those closest to environmental challenges are also closest to the solutions, so we prioritise a wide range of perspectives, backgrounds and geographies in our pipeline. To guarantee global representation, we collaborate with our Expert Advisor Council and Prize Council, which include experts from around the world. Diversity and equity are central to our approach. To date, 48 per cent of solutions are headquartered in the Global South, 62 per cent are women-led and 20 per cent of solutions identify themselves as being led by local and indigenous communities.

against climate change. He wanted to build a platform to support them, one that was driven by urgency and optimism that could drive real action and inspire others to do their bit. The Earthshot Prize was launched in 2020 and in our first four prize cycles, we have recognised and supported 60 finalists and 20 winners from every corner of the world and every segment of society and the economy. It is now the most prestigious environmental prize in the world, backing leaders across oceans, waste, nature, climate and air pollution. The Prince’s vision has remained consistent, but his ambition about what Earthshot can deliver for the planet has grown considerably. He is focused on deploy- ing Earthshot-recognised solutions into the economy and backing every leader who is part of our communi- ty. What drives him is real world impact for people and the planet. The Prize is inspired by the original Moonshot chal- lenge. What makes this environmental equivalent achievable in this decade, and how does a sense of “urgent optimism” shape your strategy? President John F Kennedy challenged Americans to put a man on the moon by the end of the 1960s. He said that goal was worth pursuing not because it was easy, but because it was hard, that it would serve to organ- ise the best of the “energy and skills” of his genera- tion.
