FBA Releases 2019 Waste, Productivity Survey

Fibre Box Association (FBA) has announced the publica- tion of the corrugated industry’s biennial Productivity & Waste Survey. The 2019 survey provides useful bench- marking data by machine center on productivity, waste and starch consumption, and offers the best-in-class data for users to compare operations. Participating companies are surveyed on their machin- ery, labor operations and waste. The 2019 report includes data for 27 companies and over 410 plants in 6 different countries. Data covers 349 corrugators and over 2,275 pieces of 30 different kinds of finishing equipment. The survey contains a summary and detailed report for: • Converting equipment • Reporting on basis weight, starch consumption and to- tal plant productivity • Equipment listings by plant Data is further segmented by size in the equipment cat- egories flexo folder gluers, rotary diecutters and printers. The 2019 Productivity and Waste Survey is available at https://fibrebox.myshopify.com/ . The cost is $250 for participants, $450 for FBA non-participating members and $750 for non-participants. A discounted rate is also avail- able to TAPPI members for $600. One does not need to be a participant to purchase the survey. AF&PA Elects IP’s Sutton As New Board Chair, Announces Officers The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) an- nounced the election of International Paper (IP) Chairman & CEO Mark Sutton as the new AF&PA Board Chair and re- leased its 2020 slate of Board Officers at the association’s Winter Board of Directors Meeting in Washington, DC. “The U.S. paper and wood products industry plays an essential role in sustainable forest management that helps keep forests as forests,” said Sutton. “I look forward to advocating for our industry’s circular, sustainable, and responsible manufacturing practices and innovations. We are proud to lead important conversations on biomass en- ergy, recycling, regulatory reform and transportation infra- structure that support our commitment to growth and our ability to create American manufacturing jobs.” Sutton became chairman of the International Paper Board of Directors on January 1, 2015, and CEO on No- vember 1, 2014. Immediately prior to becoming CEO, he served as President and Chief Operating Officer with re- sponsibility for leading the company’s global businesses. The additional elected officers are Michael Doss, Pres- ident & CEO, Graphic Packaging International, Inc. (First Vice Chair) and Christian Fischer, President & CEO, Geor- gia-Pacific LLC (Second Vice Chair). Pete Watson, Presi- dent & CEO, Greif, Inc., will serve as Immediate Past Chair.
