THE

Abbey @ WBA Access all areas

STADIUM TOUR On Wednesday 18th April children, who had participated in an after school club run by The Albion Foundation, were invited to attend a tour of the West Bromwich Albion stadium - ‘The Hawthorns'. They were shown all around the stadium by a tour guide, who told them lots of fun facts about the ground, the club and even the West Bromwich Albion players' pre-match superstitions. It was an access-all-areas tour including the the tunnel, the dug out, pitch side, media suite, VIP Boxes, the changing rooms and some of the group even got into the WBA players’ bath! For some this was their first ever visit to a football stadium. What a great experience! TOP TENNIS On Thursday 19th April an Abbey team from year 3/4 competed in the Sainsbury's School Games Tennis Competition. There were 10 teams in total and they had to compete in a league first of all, playing against other schools to earn points in order to qualify. They all showed real determination and perseverance throughout, trying their best in every game and having fun. After finishing second in the group stage, they progressed to the semi-finals where they were eventually undone by a very good opposition. However, they soon bounced back in the 3rd place playoff, winning their final match and earning themselves a bronze medal each! Well Done!! Thanks to Miss Hinton for both stories.
