You Don’t Have to Build This Alone Philip and Joan Giocondi have been building their Melaleuca business for more than two decades. Much has

“All three of our sons understand integrity and leading by example,” Phil says. “And they’ve taken everything they’ve observed and have become successful in their own right!” “Our association with Melaleuca has brought hope and positivity into our home,” Joan adds. “Our boys have seen how this company really demonstrates caring for every person. They live by the Melaleuca Mission Statement even though many of the companies they’ve worked for don’t have clear mission statements of their own. They look for ways to enhance lives wherever they go.” “We’re so proud of what they’ve become,” Phil says. So what’s the one lesson the Giocondis want to pass on? “You don’t have to build this alone,” Joan says. “Make your Melaleuca business the most rewarding it can be. Find the people you want to spend your life with, and build it together.”

“A person we’ve enrolled isn’t always ready to start a business or move forward as quickly as we believe they can,” Joan adds. “Our job is to listen to their needs and meet them where they are—and then begin pouring our belief into them.” Helping others develop their skills and confidence hasn’t just helped their own business grow. This process has also yielded lifelong friends. Those relationships have provided fulfillment and happiness that no amount of earnings could ever match. But even those relationships aren’t what Phil and Joan are most grateful for. When the Giocondis first started building their Melaleuca business, their oldest son was barely in his teens. Now all three of their sons are in their 30s! Each grew up watching Mom and Dad work tirelessly every day. That’s a legacy they both feel incredibly blessed to have left.

changed since they got started! Time and time again, life has pulled them out of their comfort zones. But they’ve learned many invaluable lessons, large and small, along the way. One lesson learned is to focus on helping others reach their goals. “Success here isn’t about what you accomplish; it’s about what you help others accomplish,” Joan says. Every Melaleuca business builder learns this eventually. And no leaders exemplify it better than the Giocondis. “Over the years, we’ve learned to focus on the activity and not on the results,” Phil says. “I want everyone to move forward, but I’ve learned that it has to be at their own pace. I have to manage my own expectations.”
