ARTISTS ALLEY Caraleen Baker-Allum

Caraleen Baker-Allum has been an artist for as long as she can remember. “I have studied art with many professional artists over the years and have experienced creativity in all mediums, oils being my favourite.” She also works in acrylics, watercolour and mixed media. Caraleen says that the most rewarding part of her artistic career has been the opportunity to use her creative skills as an adjunct to her career in human services. She has taught art to persons with developmental disabilities, brain injuries and mental illness and believes that “the rewards reaped from teaching far surpass the challenges one faces throughout the process”. A member of the Gallery Painting Group, Caraleen enjoys the friendships with other artists. “The camaraderie shared at our plein air paint-outs is genuine and inspires us to learn and grow artistically with each other.” Living in Oakridge for the past twenty years has provided Caraleen “with a great sense of community. Many of my neigh- bours are great supporters of the arts”. She is also a passionate knitter!
