Greetings from St. Thomas by Steve Peters Port Glasgow (below) The first Scottish settler to land at what is today Port Glasgow was Nellie Campbell back in 1818. It was Port Furnival at the time and was also known as Knoch-Nellie.

New Sarum George Heathcote came from Sarum, England, in 1835 and established the village of New Sarum. This comic postcard dates from 1925.

Paynes Mills Paynes Mills was named after Henry Payne, who operated a sawmill on Dodd Creek. This image was looking west in 1911. The house on the right is still standing.

Orwell Known initially as Temperanceville, the name was changed to Orwell in 1843 with the post office’s opening. This image looks east from the intersection of Talbot Line and Springwater Road in 1914.
