“I have never met anyone like him – he knows his stuff.” Andrea appre- ciates it when Doug says, “Focus on what you can do, not what you can’t do,” she says. “His level of care is well worth the drive.” “Sports is life, function is life, doing any activity, movement is movement,” says Doug. “Walking, running, playing golf, tennis, hockey, or any sport is an active lifestyle. Shoveling snow is even considered a sport.” In Doug’s eyes, an athlete is anyone who enjoys an active lifestyle. Accordingly, he enjoys working with people who want to get back to their active lifestyles. He gives custom exercises to each individual and modifies them to age groups as well. Recently, Doug welcomed Physiotherapist Nathan Cory to the team. Nathan is a graduate of Western University (2020) whose interest in working with athletes began while obtaining his Athletic Training and Health Science degrees from Castleton University in Vermont. He worked with athletes from various varsity sports while also being a member of the Men’s Ice Hockey program that participated in the NCAA. Having experience as a high-performance athlete himself, he understands the ongoing demands of training and competing in sport and has first-hand knowledge treating and rehabilitating sport injuries. As for EPIC, the future Gideon Drive facility (due to break ground this spring) will offer a range of services for its clientele, including world-class sports medicine and physiotherapy to specialized training programs, sport chiropractic services, men- tal performance coaching, and advanced recovery solutions, making it an ultimate one-stop shop. In the meantime, EPIC is also building onto the back of the Komoka Wellness Centre. Opening this spring, the facility includes a physiotherapy clinic and specialized elite sport training.
