Kids always wear life jackets and are monitored by staff and life guards at all times! WHAT IS THE CAMPER-TO- COUNSELOR RATIO? In a full camp the ratio is 5 kids to 1 staff which can be up to 24 kids. Smaller camps bigger ratios! HOW ARE STAFF MEMBERS SCREENED AND TRAINED? All staff are homegrown through our program for several years - we KNOW THEM! - and then run background checks. IS THERE A DAILY SCHEDULE, AND CAN YOU PROVIDE AN EXAMPLE? We have 30-45 minute empowerment sessions every morning and end of day. Monday they learn to sail. Tue- Fri, after the talks and a hilarious game, they sail. WHAT IS THE CAMP’S MISSION AND PHILOSOPHY? At ACOD, we provide aerial dance camps where kids build confidence, creativity, and community through aerial arts, fostering personal growth in a safe and supportive environment. WHAT SAFETY MEASURES ARE IN PLACE? Safety is a priority for us. We offer trained/background checked instructors who are adults, proper spotting and 8 inch thick mats, level-appropriate progressions. Controlled and supportive learning environment. WHAT IS THE CAMPER-TO- COUNSELOR RATIO? Our camps are 8 or fewer kiddos to 1 coach or 14 or fewer to 2 coaches. HOW ARE STAFF MEMBERS SCREENED AND TRAINED? Our camp staff are comprised of our regular coaching team, all of which work in our popular children’s afterschool aerial program. As employees, all are certified and background checked. IS THERE A DAILY SCHEDULE, AND CAN YOU PROVIDE AN EXAMPLE? Yes. Camps are structured. Every half-day camp kiddos learn skills on 2 aerial apparatuses. There is a warm up and snack break, but otherwise they are doing aerial (no “filers”)
ARE THERE OPPORTUNITIES FOR FREE PLAY OR DOWNTIME? Lunch is free time. And during those pesky no-wind times, though we try to play as a cohesive unit beyond lunch. We are a NO-PHONE ZONE! :). HOW DOES THE CAMP HANDLE HEALTH ISSUES AND ALLERGIES? As directed by parents on their registrations, and in an emergency we immediately call 911 and administer certified advanced 1st aid and CPR if necessary. ARE THERE OPPORTUNITIES FOR PARENTS TO VISIT OR PARTICIPATE IN CAMP ACTIVITIES? Anytime, as long as they keep their distance! Many parents spend the day at the lake to watch, and chillax!
