Komoka Kings Season Coming to an End by Paul Mylemans The Komoka Kings 2024-2025 season is quickly coming to an end. The season had some stretches of tough games and losses for the team. There were some disappointments like losses to the St. Thomas Stars in the last minute of the game and another in overtime. The Kings had highlight-reel finishes of their own, like the 3 – 2 win in Elmira. In the tough Western Conference of the GOJHL, the Komoka Kings are not in the top 8 of the 11 teams that make the playoffs. The final stretch of the regular season saw some great games and great individual performances in facing the top teams but not enough wins to make the playoffs. The local boys Ben Funston and Gavin Hern have added some zip, and Zack Irvin had some great games in net and faced a lot of opposition shots. The speedy duo of Jagan Chanderdat and Nathaniel Adams lead the Kings in scoring. Two recent additions, Micah Kraayenbrink, coming from Wingham and Simon McCandless from Cambridge, have added to the speed and strength of the team. On February 1st and 8th, the Kings invited teams from Strathroy Minor Hockey to play a scrimmage game between periods and then a chance to meet the Kings players after the game and get some autographs for their Kings souvenir program. The Komoka King’s final season home games are a weekend double-header on Saturday, March 8th, vs. Listowel at 7:15 pm and Sunday, March 9th, vs. Strathroy at 4:15 pm.
