Zoned for Growth
“
Atlanta has always been our home, where we are redefining mobile sports entertainment. This move to Star Metals will help us create more world-class, high-skilled and high-wage jobs in our great city while we deepen our connections across the community.
A dynamic tool used by Invest Atlanta to encourage private investment in economically distressed communities is the State Opportunity Zone Program. The program offers a federal incentive in the form of a tax credit to businesses that create jobs within designated zones. In 2024, the Georgia Department of Community Affairs designated new Opportunity Zones in Southwest Atlanta to help encourage business growth, job creation and economic revitalization. These zones include areas along Campbellton Road and Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, both of which are key corridors in Atlanta’s economic development strategy. Campbellton Road and Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive are two of nine active State of Georgia Opportunity Zones in Atlanta. As of 2024, there are 8,764 Qualified Opportunity Zones in the U.S. Each state and territory nominate their own zones, which are then certified by the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
