Reflecting on a heartwarming Sunday river cruise with Freedom Waters Foundation. As the new week begins, our hearts are overflowing with gratitude here at 26 North Yachts. We had the honor of teaming up with the incredible Freedom Waters Foundation for a special Sunday river cruise that left a lasting impact on all involved. On this unforgettable voyage, we had the privilege of hosting four amazing families, each with their own unique story and journey. From the moment they stepped aboard, it was clear that this experience would be one to remember. As we set sail, smiles lit up the faces of our guests as they soaked in the beauty of the surroundings and enjoyed precious moments with their loved ones. From laughter-filled conversations to quiet moments of reflection, every instant was filled with joy and gratitude. “Thank you again for setting up the Weller Day for 26 North – it was great! to make a change. I had interviewed with other big brokerage houses and found myself feeling really underwhelmed by the level of sophistication in the sales organizations and the marketing. At the time, Nicholas Scherb, who is my partner at 26 North Yachts, was a yacht captain. He was always interested in transitioning into yacht sales and he was ready to do it at that point. At the time, we were both young and we both didn’t have a lot of financial responsibilities. We felt there was an opportunity to create more value, even though it was just the two of us at the time. In 2011, the market was also still really recovering from the 2007-2008 recession. It was still a down market so we felt like if we could be successful in a down market then we could be successful at any time. HOW HAS THE YACHT INDUSTRY CHANGED SINCE YOU FIRST ENTERED IT? The importance of online marketing has grown and everyone recognizes that now. There’s also been a lot of changes in brokerages like the age of brokers and professionalism. I think has been improved exponentially. There are a lot more professional sales people and a lot of younger brokers that are coming into the industry. When we first started, I was by far the youngest one in the industry whereas now I see
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START 26 NORTH YACHTS AND WHERE DID YOUR JOURNEY BEGIN? When we started in 2011, it was the beginning of the internet age in the marine industry. In the marine industry specifically, I thought there was an opportunity for marketing. I’ve always had a big passion for marketing. I felt like we could do a lot better of a job at marketing than a lot of companies, even the big companies, so I just felt like I was ready We sat down with 26 North Yacht’s co-owner Mike Carlson about tips on how to stay ahead in marketing trends in the industry and what the future holds.

Turkey (and around that area), to China. We have a lot of really great experiences in shipyards all over the world but most notably, the most memorable ones are in those areas. WHAT TRENDS ARE YOU SEEING IN THE YACHT MARKET TODAY? From a design standpoint, a trend I’ve seen is increasing the interior volume in addition to having the pullout feature of clubs like outdoor space - no matter the size of the boat. There’s a much greater emphasis on outdoor living on the newer builds. As for buyers, they are getting younger and younger. As a result of remote working becoming more common and just younger people have more buying power, we’re seeing that a lot more now. With that being said, a big one is that people are able to work on their boats remotely, so more boats are being sold. HOW DO YOU STAY AHEAD OF THE COMPETITION? From a marketing standpoint, I think it’s both our sales training and our product knowledge of what the trends are while putting a big emphasis on the sales process. Our guys are just constantly working on the sales process which in turn benefits both buyers and
them start in their early 20s and 30s. All-in-all, the level of professional keeps getting better and better.
WHAT SETS 26 NORTH APART FROM OTHER YACHT BROKER FIRMS? It really comes down to our people and the culture of our company. We are a smaller group but everyone works exceptionally hard. Everyone does this full- time, no one is a part-time captain on the side. I think our marketing is superior and we put a lot of emphasis on the sales process - I think those are biggest differentiators in the business. Also, the level of customer service that we offer our clients. Being a “boatique” high-end company, means we’re able to spend a lot more time and really guide our customers. We are also well-traveled and know a lot of shipyards throughout the world. I think the combination of all those things is what really sets us apart. CAN YOU SHARE A MEMORABLE STORY OR EXPERIENCE FROM YOUR TIME IN THE YACHTING BUSINESS? There are a lot of them. Some of the ones that standout are related to visiting shipyards. Nick and I have visited a lot of shipyards in Asia, including

WHAT ARE SOME CHALLENGES YOU HAVE FACED RUNNING A BUSINESS AND HOW DID YOU OVERCOME THEM? With any business, there are always challenges. A big challenge is that it’s a really expensive business. A lot of people think a brokerage isn’t because we don’t necessarily own the boats but from a marketing standpoint, we do a lot of different things that we put money into. But it’s really understanding what’s working and what’s not working and being mindful of where those dollars are spent because there are many different avenues where you can spend money. WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE YACHT DESTINATION AND WHY? I think it really depends on what you’re looking to
sellers and gives that expertise in negotiating and understanding how to put the deals together from the marketing side too. WHAT’S THE MOST EXTRAVAGANT YACHT YOU’VE EVER SOLD AND WHAT MADE IT SO SPECIAL? We’ve sold a lot of different yachts. The meaning of “extravagant’ is different to everyone but I would say the most extravagant yacht is probably a 60-meter Heesen and a variety of Feadships. Probably the most notable that we’ve had was this custom Feadship called ANDIAMO. It was one of the few expedition yachts that Feadship had ever built that was capable of circumnavigating the world and has done so many times. That was probably one of the neatest boats we ever sold, not because of its size but because of its capabilities.
HOW DO YOU ENSURE A PERSONALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR YOUR CLIENTS?
We’re there every step of the way. What’s important is not just the sales transaction but the aftermath. For us, we have the experience and access to help on anything yacht-related, whether its crews or service - you name it. We have really good, trusted contacts and I believe that’s a big part of what our sales crew really brings to customers. It’s not just how we take them through the negotiating experience and educating them on where the value is but it’s also about what we can do with a really good network of people that can be really helpful for their ownership. I think that really falls into play of our culture because the people we have are not only helpful but we have built alliances with them as well.
84’ Cheoy Lee
CAN YOU DESCRIBE A TYPICAL DAY IN YOUR ROLE?
On a typical day, I’m really is wearing all kinds of hats. It’s helping the guys with sales and going through negotiations of various fields, it’s sales training, it’s being involved with marketing, with events, the boat shows, looking at website traffic and how we can generate more leads from listings, understanding what the market is doing as well as creating new revenue sources, new business ideas. It’s trying to always continue growing and being better than we were yesterday.
Newport, RI
I THINK OUR MARKETING IS SUPERIOR AND WE PUT A LOT OF EMPHASIS ON THE SALES PROCESS - I THINK THOSE ARE BIGGEST DIFFERENTIATORS IN THE BUSINESS.

that the boats are in Italy and not in Finland where the sailboats are built. I’ve visited the shipyards personally and I speak to them almost daily. We were at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September with a Nautor Swan powerboat displayed there. It’s a great relationship that we have with them. We are very open with communication so it’s always ongoing. WHAT HAS BEEN THE MOST REWARDING ASPECT IN PARTNERING WITH NAUTOR SWAN? Working with such a prestigious brand elevates our business by offering a really premium product from a new boat standpoint. Most of our business has been largely focused on brokerage or pre-owned boats so adding a newer division featuring Nautor Swan is appropriate. Being partnered with them also elevates their business because we provide a massive amount of sales experience in the yacht division especially in motoryachts. So it’s a great relationship from that standpoint where they have such a strong brand and we have sales experience in the motoryacht world. IS THERE ANYTHING EXCITING IN THE WORKS FOR 26 NORTH YACHTS? We are putting a much larger emphasis on chartering yachts and private yachts across the world - not just here in Florida. That’s a big vision of ours. Areas that we’re really spending a lot of our time on are both on the charter side but also on the yacht charter management side. Someone who wants to purchase the yacht but is in need of a successful charter program will benefit from this. We put a strong emphasis on that because we see a lot of opportunity there and a way to differentiate ourselves and the boats we represent from our competitors.
accomplish. As far as my own personal experience, I really love going to the smaller towns in the Mediterranean. The Caribbean is great as well. Croatia is also an exceptionally great up-and-coming place that more boats are starting to visit. I think it really depends on what kind of experience you’re looking for. But I think one that really stands out is Corsica. WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE LOOKING TO BUY THEIR FIRST YACHT? There’s a lot more to owning a boat than just purchasing it. It’s really important to speak to someone who has the experience but is also giving you accurate and honest information. The purchase price is really just a small piece of the pie, there’s more to it than that so I think it’s really important to find someone who has the right experience in the size boat that you’re looking at and also the ownership process as well. WHAT ROLE DOES CUSTOMER FEEDBACK PLAY IN SHAPING YOUR BUSINESS? I think it plays the most important role. Our entire business is based on the satisfaction of our customers and the referrals are a huge part of it. Because of that, we take the feedback seriously and it’s really important to us. Whether it’s good or bad, we always take them into consideration. We provide surveys at the end of each transaction to find areas where we can improve. That feedback is what helps us become a better company. WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO INCLUDE NAUTOR SWAN IN YOUR PORTFOLIO AND HOW HAS THAT DECISION IMPACTED YOUR BUSINESS? Nautor Swan is one of the most premier sailboat manufacturers in the world and has the reputation for that. I used to be a big sailor and do a lot of offshore racing so I was always on Nautor Swans. I also worked on boats right out of college with professional crews so I was always on a Swan back then too. That made me become very passionate about the brand. Then seeing them develop into the motoryachts division really caught my attention because I always recognized how strong of a brand Nautor Swan has been and that’s what really got me excited to get involved. HOW DO YOU MANAGE THE RELATIONSHIP WITH NAUTOR SWAN? The difference with the powerboats division is

There’s something undeniably romantic about the notion of casting off, leaving the hustle and bustle of everyday life behind, and letting the wind guide you to far-off, exotic locales. For some, this is merely a daydream. For others, particularly those who find themselves aboard a Nautor Swan yacht, it’s a lifestyle. “Nautor Swan has always been raising the stakes in building new models and push its boundaries, meeting its customers’ needs and fulfilling the expectations of the market with seaworthy, elegant, performing and timeless yachts,” says CEO Giovanni Pomati.

BUILDER SPOTLIGHT: SAILING IN STYLE NEW & NOTEWORTHY
Nautor Swan, the Finnish yacht builder, has been synonymous with luxury and performance since its inception in 1966. Founded by Pekka Koskenkylä in Pietarsaari, Finland, the company set out to create yachts that were not only beautiful and comfortable but also capable of withstanding the rigors of ocean racing. And boy, did they succeed. From the very beginning, Nautor Swan yachts were different. The company’s first model, the Swan 36, was an instant success, winning races and hearts alike. Almost 58 years ago, Koskenkylä had the intuition and the ability to convince Sparkman & Stephens, one of the most acclaimed yacht designers at that time, to design his first sailing yacht in fiberglass trimmed with wood. As a result, the first Swan 36 was introduced. “It was the perfect blend of elegance and engineering, with a sleek hull designed by Sparkman & Stephens. “Hundreds of years of Finnish boat building tradition helped Koskenkylä in his dream to build high quality and high-performance sailing yachts, made for those who had the passion for cruising and racing,” says Pomati. The tradition continues today. They work with the highest skilled professionals in the sailing and motor yacht fields. “In Finland we have boatbuilders from five generations, whose know-how is transferred from father to son. Then all the most skilled experts in the marine world cooperate and work with us on the projects, to create a product that is the best in its segment,” says Pomati. Though Nautor Swan yachts have certainly won plenty of races, it’s not just about winning. “We study and listen to the market and to the feedback of our owners. Then we start the brainstorm process with our designers and after some reviews we come to our final design. It’s a very challenging and inspiring process for us,” says Pomati. The meticulous craftsmanship, the attention to detail, and the use of only the finest materials make every Nautor Swan yacht a floating work of art. Step aboard, and you’ll find yourself surrounded by polished mahogany, sumptuous leather, and state-of-the-art technology. It’s as if the best parts of a five-star hotel and a high- performance sports car had a love child, and that child was raised on the sea. To keep up with their prestigious reputation, they make sure to stay up-to-date when it comes to technological innovations. For example, The Swan

under one roof and where they share their passion for sailing, love for nature and for Nautor Swan boats. “It’s a huge community we are very proud of,” says Pomati. Nautor Swan owners are a diverse bunch, ranging from seasoned sailors to first-time yacht buyers. What they all share is a love of the sea and an appreciation for quality. “With a range divided into four lines, each responding to the character of a precise owner, meeting his way of intending and living the sea, our brand keeps on offering high quality products,” says Pomati. For Nautor Swan, the future looks promising. “We are presenting the Swan 88 and the ClubSwan 43 at the Cannes Yachting Festival for sailing,” says Pomati. The Swan Arrow and the Over Shadow will have their worldwide premieres there. Next summer, the new Swan 80 will hit the water, soon after the Swan 128 (the new flagship) with much more yet to be announced. A Nautor Swan yacht is more than just a boat; it’s an investment in a lifestyle. It’s about waking up to the sound of waves, exploring hidden coves, and knowing that wherever you go, you’ll be traveling in style. So, next time you’re dreaming of the sea, imagine it from the deck of a Nautor Swan. Feel the wind in your hair, the sun on your face, and the thrill of knowing that you’re sailing one of the finest yachts ever built. Because in the end, life is too short for anything less than extraordinary. And with Nautor Swan, extraordinary is exactly what you get.
Arrow features the new Mase Generator, a hybrid variable-speed marine generator, combined with a modular lithium battery pack, designed to operate in two modes: the traditional endothermic mode (with the engine on); and the zero-emission mode (enabling the lithium batteries to power the inverter installed inside the generator), which in turn feeds the onboard hotel services, such as air conditioning. Recently, they also launched the Swan 88 with a hybrid electric propulsion, powered by a fully integrated Deep Blue system by Torqeedo. “The Deep Blue system management efficiently powers this elegant yacht with a custom-developed 120 kW electric drive system and 160 kWh of energy storage,” says Pomati. All onboard systems are electrically powered and managed by this central system. “We talk about ‘Innovation Through Tradition’ and it represents the harmonious blending of modern advancements with the enduring values and practices that have shaped the company’s legacy. This concept reflects a dedication to maintaining traditional craftsmanship and principles while constantly pursuing innovative solutions and enhancements.” In addition, the company, along with the Boatbuilding Technology Center, launched the Nautor Swan Brokerage and Charter. It’s goal is to ease those in the first steps in the sailing world or those willing to upgrade selling their boats through these platforms. They also offer Nautor Swan Global Service for all the activities of customer care, refit and service and more. Manta5 launches Hydrofoiler SL3, a must-try for water enthusiasts.
The Hydrofoiler SL3 is the world’s first electric hydrofoil bike and is the result of zero compromise in the pursuit to replicate the intuitive cycling experience we all know and love on land, to the water. To be nimble, fast, able to carve, drift and be close to the action demanded only the most sleek engineering—demonstrating Manta5’s superiority to the pedalo water biking technology of the past. And the creators have now launched the Hydrofoiler SL3 for rent in Miami. “Having no hull or pontoon is a welcome trade- off. Just like improving your skills on a land bike it encourages learning and improving, and ultimately to loving every session. Falling off and getting wet when starting out is all part of the fun. Typically with the SL3 it takes less than an hour to go from novice to confident. From there, anyone can add fresh and salt water to their routine,” Founder Guy Howard-Willis
27
RIDING THE WAVES LUXE LIVING
told Bicycle Retailer and Industry News.
This experience of cycling on the water is Manta5’s claim to fame. A surreal experience free from trails and traffic. Being able to experience the sensation of flight over the water’s surface at pace while witnessing sea life bursting below, to riding on mirror lakes that reflect the sky above. It is an unparalleled experience which needs to be experienced first-hand. Like all foiling products, when you stop moving, the SL3 will lower until the chassis is floating on the water’s surface. Riders can stay on the saddle semi- submerged when stationary. When it’s time to launch, kick in the throttle or pedal to take off. Very similar to aircraft, the hydrofoil ‘wings’ begin to lift you up higher out of the water the faster you go. To fly on the water’s surface using hydrofoils requires a substantial amount of power – around 400+ watts continuously. Unless you’re training for the upcoming Tour de France very few can maintain that level of physical output for an extended duration. Combining both human power and a variable electric assist motor has made foil biking possible for the masses, enabling the average rider to adjust the motor assistance as and when they need it. “We have riders averaging 1.5 hours per battery right up to 4.5 hours. It all depends on how much exercise you want to put in,” says Howard-Willis. When the swell picks up, the new SL3 kicks into gear and turns those conditions into a playground for any thrill seeker. The SL3 competently takes on moving mountains and pierces over and down swell. A guaranteed thrilling experience for advanced riders.
28
RIDING THE WAVES LUXE LIVING
“Consider the vast range of bicycles on land and consider the potential to recreate these categories on water at various price points. It’s our dream to commoditise foil biking and build a new sport in the process.” says Guy Howard-Willis.
The SL3 is made from carbon fibre and aircraft- grade aluminium, making it buoyant and light enough to carry to the water without the need for a trailer. In addition, a new hardwearing monocoque chassis, structural drivetrain and sealed gearboxes are designed to withstand the harsh marine environment. Dual layer IPX67 battery housings and safety tilt sensors cut motor power as soon as the bike falls are all built into the available models.
The Hydrofoiler SL3 has now launched to market and available via authorized resellers.

Acquiring Dolphin Atlantic’s operating certificate marked a significant milestone, transitioning Gold Aviation from brokerage to operator, and allowing them to manage an in-house fleet of piston and turboprop aircraft. Over nearly three decades, the company has grown to manage over fifteen private jets. So, what sets Gold Aviation apart in the crowded skies of private aviation? It’s their unwavering commitment to excellence and adaptability. Between 2012 and 2015, they maintained a diverse fleet, but recognizing the need for optimal performance, they pivoted to an all-Embraer Phenom 300 fleet. This strategic move not only showcased their adaptability but also positioned them at the forefront of innovation. In recent years, Gold Aviation has seen tremendous growth, with a fleet of over ten Phenom 300s and a workforce exceeding 40 dedicated employees. Despite rapid expansion, they’ve maintained their focus on personalized service. The tight-knit team fosters genuine connections with each customer, ensuring exceptional service—a rarity among larger,
