STAY IN YOUR LANE

We're kickin' it old school to teach an important lesson — that there's no finish line when it comes to safe driving. Following the rules of the road should last a lifetime. You've been navigating South Dakota's streets and highways for years now, but let's be honest, we could all use a refresher. Traffic laws evolve, road conditions change and bad habits are born every day. These tips will help you polish your skills and make you a more confident and safer driver — just in time for summer. GOING BACK TO BASICS

Keep an eye on the lines and stay in your lane whenever you make a turn. Left turns should always be made into the left lane, closest to the center line. And all right turns should be made into the right lane, closest to the curb.

They've got someplace to be. Someplace important. Always move over to the right lane, then slow down or stop when emergency vehicles with flashing lights and sirens drive by. This includes ambulances, the fire department and police. PULL OFF FOR EMERGENCY SERVICES
