What Is This
What is that special inexplicable connection between people and animals? Between people and their pets? In an instant there is “instant” understanding .. no words.. just a look, a moment, a feeling and we know. They know that we love them or maybe that we want to strangle them because they just peed on grandmother’s antique oriental rug!
friends and partners in our lives and the lives of our families. They accept us whether we are homely to look at or simply divine.. forever accepting, loving and there for us when we need a smile and they offer a wag. So, we have taken the opportunityof basking in this eternal lovefest connection between man and dogs by showcasing some beautiful visual connections between people and their pets.. a selection of photos from yesteryear of people of note and their best furry friends. With a snap of the camera the love “Man’s best friend” extends to us is palpable whether we are a celebrity or an average Joe. Our furry friends are so dear and appreciated that some humans have shown their love by leaving their millions or billions to their best friends. Their dogs!! And in some cases.. cats, monkeys and others of the non-human variety.
As they say in french, “Je Ne Sais Quoi!”
But it’s there and it’s been there this connection, this understanding, this discourse of thoughts and ideas (without language) since the beginning of time. Sometimes we feel that instant connection with people too. You can just look at a stranger and feel warmth towards them, acceptance or the opposite.. Pets somehow understand us and accept us for the most part expecting little in return. And they don’t seem to care whether they live in the yard, a barn, the dog house, your house or right there in bed with you! They just long to be devoted to us, to be near us ..whether we are rich or poor, young or old, fat or skinny or downright homely. Dogs are understandably dubbed “Man’s best friend” for a reason. They look at us and see love. Pure and simple.. they love us however we are, whoever we are. They accept us (flaws and all), perhaps better than any mother, father, family member, lover or friend.
And for many people that love is very mutual.
Though we might get upset when they bring in a freshly killed bird as a dinner offering or run into the kitchen with mud on their feet.. they are still our
