Letter PRESIDENT'S

Mark J. Sobeck Westmoreland Club President

Dear Fellow Westmoreland Club Members, As I’m writing this, the single-digit deep freeze just broke and thankfully we are heading into some milder temperatures for the next couple of weeks. Winter is a great time to enjoy the warmth of The Westmoreland Club. There are many member events planned, including Valentine’s Day dining options, along with the weekly happy hour cocktail parties. These are very affordable at $15 per member and $20 per guest. I attended the last one and about 70 people had a wonderful time socializing, and in some cases meeting fellow members for the first time. This is also a great and affordable party to invite guests, expose them to our wonderful club, and possibly get them interested in joining. I’d also like to remind you of how important it is to support our club with dining as much as possible. The food quality has been fantastic under Executive Chef Luke Swick, and there are many new and delicious menu items to try. In addition to the food quality improvements, the service has been exceptional. The more people dining at the Club, the better. It’s your club, you own it, so please remember to use it as much as possible. Looking forward to the brighter and warmer days of Spring, which are right around the corner. Regards, Mark J. Sobeck

Message GENERAL MANAGER’S

Matthew Riviello Westmoreland Club General Manager

In an effort to continue communicating with the membership, we have begun this monthly digital newsletter. We hope that you find it informative and keeps you up to date with what is happening at the Club. With this in mind, we are actively planning a variety of member events, both big and small, and have already made significant progress on some of these initiatives. Our goal is to enrich your membership experience by providing something engaging every day of the week

We have already begun our Jazz Club Brunch every Sunday with The Westmoreland Club Jazz Band. The hours for this are 10 AM – 2 PM every Sunday, and we are pleased to say we are seeing overwhelming response and attendance on a weekly basis. The menu changes weekly so be sure to stop in and see what Chef Luke comes up with every week. With that being said we have brought back the weekly cocktail party. This event will happen every Friday evening and allow the membership to have cocktails in a specific location while interacting with fellow members. In the coming weeks, we are also going to add a unique feature to this event by allowing members who are interested to work alongside our Beverage Manager – Alex Cruz – by serving as our bartender(s) for the evening. Tuesday, February 4th, we will be hosting the 2nd installment of our Dinner Series in conjunction with Southern Wine & Spirits and Heaven Hill Distillery. This event will start at 6:00 PM and will offer a complimentary pairing of Executive Chef Luke’s cuisine with Elijah Craig and Heaven Hill Samplings. Beginning on February 19th and continuing every Wednesday through April 16th, we are bringing back our Culinary, Pastry, and Mixology classes. These classes allow our members the opportunity to spend the evening with the experts in their field. Luke, Brittany, and Alex have been working all winter to come up with programs that will be fun and informative in all aspects. Thursday, February 20th is shaping up to be an exciting evening. We have combined forces with Aaron Fusco, who was at the Club many years ago, to continue to focus on our wine program at the Club. Over the past few months, we have received feedback and have spent a lot of time upgrading our overall wine portfolio from by the glass offerings to expanding on our by-the-bottle program. For this evening, Aaron will give attendees the tools to be able to approach the expanded wine list at the Club and make selections with confidence. This is a unique event and Aaron will spend the evening with us. Space will be limited so please be sure to sign up quickly as we are filling up. As we continue to focus on expanding our member programming there are two things I would like to mention. First, the success of your club is dependent on you utilizing everything the club has to offer. Secondly, if there are enhancements in programming that you would like to see, please reach out to me directly and we can discuss and determine the best way to incorporate this into our programming.

Matthew Riviello General Manager

Westmoreland Club

AN EVENING WITH Aaron Fusco

February 20, 2025 6:00 PM

Join us at The Westmoreland Club for an enlightening evening with Aaron Fusco, featuring wine education and tasting. The event kicks off in the Main Dining Room with delightful hors d’oeuvres and a chance to engage in conversation while reviewing our curated Wine List. Attendees will gain valuable insights on how to navigate the wine list and discover the perfect wine pairings to enhance their dining experience. Immediately thereafter, Aaron will be in the Governors Room, where he will host an “Ask The Expert”, and “Guess The Wine” session. Learn to navigate wine lists like a pro.

Aaron joined taste56 in 2019 as the Executive Wine Director before assuming his current role as the VP of Operations. Prior to being part of the taste56 family, Aaron was the Wine Director at the Michelin Starred restaurant Café Boulud where he was responsible for the curation and pricing strategy of its 4,500 bottle wine cellar, including maintaining a vast network of top distributor and key producer relationships as well as spearheading staff education, mentorship, and the management of private events. Before assuming his role at Cafe Boulud, Aaron rose from a server to sommelier, leading a team of three somms at Restaurant Daniel. His experience not only sparked his passion for wine and hospitality, but also illuminated their important as key business differentiators. In 2016, Aaron took on the side role of beverage director at the critically acclaimed Brooklyn restaurant, Oxalis, then a pop-up, including designing and executing the service delivery which sparked an entrepreneurial itch and his eventual interest in joining a start-up. The culmination of his experience, passion for operational excellence, and belief in our mission at taste56 lead to many conversations with James Fantaci and ultimately led to his eventual addition to our team as one of the earliest hires. He is now a key part of our executive team.
