WARFIGHTING ACQUISITION WORKFORCE
Warfighting Acquisition University (WarU) celebrated the recipients of the third Annual Warfighting Acquisition Work - force Innovation in Action on June 23. The awards recognize six distinguished individuals who successfully applied acquisition practices that prioritized speed and efficiency in two categories: “Innovation in Overcoming Obstacles” and “Implementing Acquisition Flexibilities.” WarU President Bilyana Anderson said, “The acquisition workforce stands at the forefront of change, acting as a catalyst for innovation and improvement.” During the ceremony, each award recipient described how they navigated their unique challenges of the warfighting acquisition system. Five individuals were selected for the “Innovation in Over- coming Obstacles” honor for exceptional innovation and
resilience in overcoming impediments with independent judgment and original ideas. Recipients demonstrated criti- cal thinking and embraced diverse perspectives, which re- sulted in invaluable insights that enhanced our acquisition processes. One person was selected for the “Innovation in Imple- menting Acquisition Flexibilities” honor for using simpli - fied acquisition procedures, inherent flexibilities within the Federal Acquisition Regulation, commercial contracting ap- proaches, innovative contractor incentive practices, and other inventive implementations of acquisition flexibilities and authorities. This recipient demonstrated unparalleled innovation and local adaptation in program management. Each awardee received a $5,000 cash prize.
