Enhancements to Improve Grower Success & Quality

Global transition to uncoated Pelargonium seed A team of experts in collaboration with key customers in North America have reevaluated Pelargonium seed coating and determined that it has little added value in performance and handling versus uncoated seed. The benefit of stopping with coating in our production process is that it makes our production process more efficient and less complex. This allows us to bring our Pelargonium seed earlier to market in addition to supporting our sustainability goals.

Velocity ™ Salvia now offered as pre-pinched URC Removing the growing tip of the unrooted cutting during the stock plant harvest phase has shown positive results in the prevention of leaf tip necrosis by decreasing the demand for calcium in the terminal, offering more balanced distribution of calcium for side shoot formation. Pre-pinched cuttings also eliminate the need for pinching rooted liners delivering a more robust and faster fill, multi-flowered crop after transplant, saving labor and improving liner quality. This new product spec was implemented beginning week 40, 2024 from our Kapok Plantas Farm in Guatemala.

Laser ™ Synchro Cyclamen moves from primed to raw seed To support bringing quality seed to market faster, the priming enhancement process on Cyclamen Laser Synchro varieties has been discontinued effective November 1, 2024. After performing trials to evaluate both primed seed versus raw seed, we have determined that seed priming offers no significant improvement in germination percentages and overall germination uniformity. This process change enables our supply chain to deliver Laser Synchro seed more quickly after harvesting by eliminating the additional step of priming the seed before shipment to our seed hub. An additional benefit of this change is the extended shelf life of the raw seed compared to primed seed.
