A Message ... FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER

ANDY ANDREWS COO/ GENERAL MANAGER

RESTAURANT CLOSURES - Please be aware that the Cimarron Dining Room and Mesquite Grill will be CLOSED for dinner service at 4 PM on Super Bowl Sunday, February 9, and Friday, February 14, due to the Tonto Verde Cares Gala. will provide real-time updates, including daily schedules and important pickleball-related announcements. We’re excited about these improvements and look forward to seeing you on the courts! Also, to enhance communication, we have installed a large screen monitor at the courts. This display

Dear members, We appreciate your continued support and cooperation as we strive to enhance your community experience.

PICKLEBALL UPDATE - Our Tonto Verde pickleball community has grown to nearly 100 players, with more joining every week. Through our Beginner Orientation program, we aim to introduce nearly 200 residents to the sport by the end of February. If demand continues, additional orientation sessions will be offered in March. Curious about pickleball but don’t have the gear? No worries! Grab your family or friends and head to the courts—paddles and balls are available just for new players. You'll find paddles in the gray storage compartment and balls in the holders at the courts. Just be sure to wear comfortable athletic clothing and supportive tennis shoes. Also, check out our Beginner Orientation sessions under the Lifestyle | Events Regsitration and sign up now! COMMUNITY PARK UPDATE - Thank you to everyone who adhered to our request not to park along Forest while we wait for the roadway to be completed. Unfortunately, Maricopa County is still reviewing final submittals on this work and forced the contractor to reschedule it once again. The work is now scheduled for February 21st —27th. Please continue to use the cart path from the end of Desierto Drive to the Blue Sky pathway.

TRAFFIC SAFETY REMINDER - The Association receives many complaints about members, guests and contractors speeding and failure to stop at stop signs.

This topic was presented to the House & Grounds Committee to review and provide a response to address this growing concern of traffic safety. To address these concerns, the House & Grounds Committee is reviewing solutions to enhance safety within our community. KEY TRAFFIC RULES: Speed Limit: 25 mph for all vehicles, including golf carts. Stop Signs Are NOT Optional: Come to a complete stop before proceeding. Use Signals: Always use turn signals or hand signals before turning. Golf Carts Yield to Cars & Pedestrians: Golf carts must yield to cars at intersections and stop for pedestrians in crosswalks. Valid Driver’s License Required: A valid license is necessary to operate a car in the community. Be Aware of Wildlife: Watch for deer, coyotes, and other animals cros vent in our community calendar 2 | ASSOCIATION Cont. pg. 3

After evaluating multiple systems, we have chosen “YourCourts” as our pickleball scheduling and reservation platform. This system will help us efficiently manage general open play, skill-level play, special events, and

member court reservations at designated times each day. Its flexibility allows us to adjust the weekly schedule to best serve the evolving needs of our pickleball community. YourCourts will officially launch in February.

Golf Cart Safety Reminders:

A CALL FOR COOPERATION - Many communities enforce traffic fines, but Tonto Verde prefers voluntary compliance. Ensuring a safe community relies on all residents, guests, and vendors following traffic rules. Let’s all do our part to keep Tonto Verde safe! TVA ANNUAL MEETING - Please make note of the Tonto Verde Association's Annual Meeting, a significant event in our community calendar: Date: Tuesday, March 24, 2025, Time: 3:00 PM Location: Community Church of the Verdes We invite you to join us for a complimentary reception at the Clubhouse immediately following the meeting. TONTO VERDE ASSOCIATION 2025-28 DIRECTOR NOMINEES The Tonto Verde Association’s Nominating Committee announces the nominees to fill three director positions that will be open in March 2025. Those nominees are:

Richard Dugan (CPA)

Dick’s professional career included almost 40 years with a national accounting firm, advising client companies on a variety of financial, accounting and tax matters. While there, he served as a Managing Partner for the Mid-Atlantic Region. He also served as the Chair of the Audit Committees and a Board of Directors member for three separate publicly traded companies. He served as a Board member for eight not-for-profit organizations, and as Treasurer and Board member for two country clubs in Pennsylvania. Tonto Verde Involvement: Dick was Treasurer and Board member of the Tonto Verde Golf Club and Chaired the TVGC Financial Operations Committee. He currently serves as a member of the Tonto Verde Finance & Investment Committee. Background:

Dick’s vision for the Tonto Verde Community is to maintain our sound financial position. In his opinion, the TVA must take all necessary steps to remain financially viable to enable new and enhanced amenities. He believes input and advice from TVA homeowners and exploration of all possibilities for operational improvements is essential. Currently, he sees potential investments in community security, continued road maintenance, and other clubhouse needs in the future. He feels that “the TVA must have the financial capacity for such investments.” He believes that maintaining a healthy capital reserve is critical for future budgets. Julie Varda Background: Julie spent her career as a Marketing, Advertising, and Public Relations specialist. Beginning her career with a nationally recognized ad agency, she became the Vice President for major accounts and a member of their Board of Directors. In 1997 she opened her own ad agency with offices in Arizona and Minnesota, which she led until her retirement.

Tonto Verde Involvement: Julie Chaired the Tonto Verde Marketing Committee. During her term, the committee developed a strategic marketing plan, created an ambassadors’ program and launched the “Discover Program” that resulted in hundreds of visits from prospects and 38 property sales to new first-time residents.

Today she advises the committee on Tonto’s Google Ad Word campaign that drives thousands of targeted visitors to our website annually. She also serves on the Communication Task Force, providing support to update Tonto’s website, digital and social media platforms and internal communication and promotional pieces. Julie’s short-term vision for Tonto Verde is to continue to improve communications with our residents, reaching them where they go for their information and promoting our community activities and amenities. Longer term, Julie wants to see Tonto continue to “polish the brand” as a premier community. That also includes building strong succession plans for volunteers and staff and working collaboratively with the

Tonto Verde Golf Club on issues that affect customer service and the satisfaction of members of both organizations. Susan is seeking a second term on the Tonto Verde Board of Directors. Susan Warzecka

Background: Her professional career included over 30 years in a variety of management positions for three separate Fortune 100 companies. For one, she was the Senior Vice President of Human Resources and, later, Chief Support Officer. At another, she was Executive Vice President of Human Resources, Information Technology and Strategic Planning. Tonto Verde Involvement: Susan has been a member of the TVA Board of Directors since October 2020, where she is currently serving as Vice President. She has been Chair of the TVA Human Resource Committee since it was started in 2018, is a current member of the Strategic Planning Committee, Survey Task Force and inter- board committee. For the Tonto Verde Golf Club, she served on the Board of directors for six years and was a member of Governance and Executive Committee.

In. In both the short and long term, one of Susans prioritirs is to keep the communtiy as special as if has been. That means continuing to improve our communications with the community, ensuring the Board is always as transparent as possible, and seeking to engage a broad cross section of our residents in activities and committees. The Tonto Verde Vision is “to be a premier, activity rich, golf community in the northeast valley.” To Susan, that means putting a focus on excellence in operations. This includes the restaurant experience, maintenance of our facilities and grounds and overall customer service. Susan believes we have the ability to get closer to achieving our vision. ______________________________________________________________________________ As a reminder, outside of this process, members may nominate additional candidates by petition containing the signatures of a minimum of seventy-five (75) members entitled to vote. The petition must be (a) submitted to Andy Andrews who will post it outside the clubhouse entrance, and (b) submitted to the Secretary of the Board, Bill Reimer at 27507 N Tonto Verde Drive, by the end of the day, February 13, 2025. Members desiring to utilize this procedure should refer to the Bylaws of the TVA for a more complete explanation of the process. In as much as petitioned candidates will be included on the ballot, the Nominating Committee also recommends the candidates submit a resume and answer the two questions other candidates were asked: 1. What is your short and long-term vision for Tonto Verde? 2. What qualifications do you have that will add value to the TVA? Each candidate will also be required to sign the TVA Code of Conduct and Ethics. If you have questions about the nomination process, please contact Lew Devendorf, Chair of the Nominating Committee, at ldevendorf613@gmail.com or 480-471-2241.

COMMUNITY LENDING LIBRARY Judy Richelsen has been managing, shelving, and organizing library volunteers for 25 years! A BIG THANK YOU to Judy for her endless service to

community. Thanks to Judy, Tonto Verde residents have enjoyed a surplus of engaging books to select from. Maintaining a library of donated books has been an ongoing effort and is appreciated by all of our members, families, and friends who utilize the library. We wish Judy a smooth transition as she and Ray make their new home in Fountain Hills. Their presence will be missed by many in Tonto Verde. Additional volunteers are needed to help shelve books. A two-week commitment per year is easy to manage. If interested, please contact Jacki Westbay to add your name to the list. For those wishing to donate books to the Tonto Verde Library, please note that the library committee cannot currently accept fiction published before 2013 due to limited space. That is the same for both hardcover and paperback.
