assembly. The dance, the show, tobacco, bazaars, suppers have all tended to turn the house o f God into a house of mer chandise. Christ’s body should be other wise occupied. It should be a place where souls are born again, Christians are edified, and babes in Christ are in structed. The Church is His Bride. Eph. 5:32. The bride should be deeply in love with the bridegroom. The true church of God is deeply in love with the Lord Jesus Christ. He occupies her heart’s affections. He is the subject of her songs of praise. He is the One whom she serves and obeys. The true church of God seeks to bless her Lord. God’s real church seeks to know the will of Christ and then be doers of it. The bride loves to talk about her brigegroom in glowing terms for the blessing of others. The bride wants to introduce her bridegroom to those who know him not. The bride expresses her love for her Lord in gracious deeds and loving words. The Church is His Army. Eph. 6:11. God’s people are called upon to “ fight the good fight of faith.” They are told to “ resist the devil.” They are instruct ed concerning the armor of God so that Satan may be resisted and in fact over come by the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God. The members of God’s church should know how to han dle those who oppose Christ, the Bible and the gospel. They should know how to answer the objections of those who refuse the faith of our fathers. They should be able to resist the wiles of the devil and to use skillfully the Scrip tures of truth for his defeat. servant of the Lord Jesus. There was a time when he did not believe in his brother. But his association with Him changed his convictions until he not only believed in Him, but publicly acknowl edged that his own brother Jesus was his Lord. This is the mark of true con version. Those who call Jesus Lord and really mean it become willing serv ants who obey intelligently and serve the risen Saviour acceptably. Christ lives in order that He may daily impart to us the grace, the strength, and the power that we need for intelligent serv ice for Him. Paul was a Servant o f the Lord. Acts 9:6. Paul did not know nor believe that the man who died at Calvary was really liv-

We should believe in Christ’s church. It is the salt of the earth and the only sanctifying influence in corrupt society. Throughout the world God’s people are the preserving influence in the midst of corruption: political, social, and phys ical. God’s people are not always the best testimony, but they are always the best influence. This world must be a sorry sight were it not for the ministry of those who believe God, love His Word, and teach His truth. These facts call for our faith. These facts are indisputable and undeniable. The Church is His Building. 1 Cor. 3:12. It is because the church of God is to be found generally throughout the world that God is able to dwell among men and do the precious things that are accom plished in His Name. His church is the holiest place on earth. Where His people are, there He is in the midst of them. The holy influence that emanates from the true church of God is effective al ways because the Holy Spirit is present. The church of God performs the work o f God. This results in the salvation of souls and the manifestation in the city or in the neighborhood of the truth of God, and the blessings that come from heaven. Satan attacks this church be cause it is the citadel of God’s power againts the devil’s kingdom. The Church is His Body. Eph. 1:23. Since the church is His body we ex pect it to carry out the will of God and to work according to God’s plan and pro gram. This is not always true in the so-called church of today. The world has invaded the sacred precincts of that which should be God’s house and God’s We do have a risen, living Christ who calls for our service. Romanism has a dead Christ nailed to a cross, and obedi ence is rendered to the church, not to the Saviour. Other false religions re quire obedience to their leaders, both men and women. Those who are in God’s church know only one leader. He is the Head of the church and is at God’s right hand. The saints of God obey thè mes sage of Mary, “ Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.” This should be our goal. This is the path of success. The will o f Christ is found in the Word of God. Let us learn to obey it.
