swered, “ Thou art the Christ.” Jesus told the disciples that they should not tell this to anyone. Then He told them that He would suffer many things, be rejected by the leaders o f the Jews, be killed, and arise again after three days. When the time came for the Son of God to die for our sins, “ He stedfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem.” Jesus knew what danger and suffering awaited Him there, but His love for us made Him bravely pay the price for our sin upon Calvary’s cross. When people are asked today who Jesus is, some give false answers. To some, He is just a man like any other man. To others He is a great Teacher; to still others He is a deceiver. To those who really know Him. He is the Son of God, the Saviour o f the world. Later in Peter’s life, he was ridiculed for being a friend o f Jesus. For a while Peter was ashamed to admit that he knew the Saviour, but he preached the gospel with great boldness and joy after his Lord had arisen from the dead. You Christian boys and girls may have some one of your friends or your family make fun of you fo r following God’s Son. Pray that the Holy Spirit will give you the courage to confess Him even in the face o f laughter or danger. It is the term used by Josephus, and the Jewish rabbis, to denote the region “ be yond Jordan.” Probably it had as its southern boundary the Amon River. Its northern boundary was below the south ern end of the Sea of Galilee. The ex periences related in this week’s lesson took place in that area. Jesus’ Attitude Toward Children (Mark 10:13-16) Evidently the disciples thought that the Lord was altogether too busy to be bothered with mothers bringing their little ones to Him for consideration. This attitude displeased our Lord. He let it be clearly understood that the children were important and that He had time to think of them. Christian workers today will be wise to heed this example o f Christ and see to it that the child is given a prominent place in their ministry. The word translated little children means all children under the age of ac countability. They are all within the em brace of His love. Trustful, helpless chil dren are the only objects said to be in the arms of Jesus. They are saved through the power o f the blood o f the atone ment, even though born in sin. “ Whoso ever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein” (15).
