Gamma Omega-Midwestern State Gamma Omega Wins Big at Fraternity and Sorority Life Awards Each spring, Midwestern State University (MSU) hosts a Fraternity and Sorority Life (FSL) Awards Banquet. This year, the Gamma Omega chapter of Alpha Phi took home many awards, including FSL Member of the Year, Excellence in Recruitment, Excellence in Service for Philanthropic Dollars Raised and Chapter of Excellence (in which Alpha Phi scored the highest, above 95%, on MSU's Standards of Excellence). Gamma Omega also received multiple individual member awards for academic excellence.
“This is the first year we have received Chapter of Excellence, and we are still ecstatic about this recognition,” expressed Vanessa Molencupp, Gamma Omega’s chapter president. In addition to these FSL awards, Gamma Omega also had a successful Go Red Week wherein the chapter hosted many new events for MSU’s campus, such as Pie a Phi (which has started a trend of pie a “fill in the blank” on campus), Pancake Phi'st (where participants enjoy unlimited pancakes for a ticket fee) and yoga classes sponsored by a local gym.
This year, Gamma Omega raised the largest amount of money in its history for the Foundation, approximately $3,000.
“We have already started planning for our philanthropy week this year and are hoping to beat our fundraising record once again,” Victoria said. “We received a lot of support from our campus, other Chapters and our community as well.”
Keep up the great work, Gamma Omega!
