Object Lesson CONQUERING: WITH CHIUST
OBJECTS: A nail, a large spike, two six-volt dry cell batteries, a piece of adhesive tape, about sixty feet of Num ber 20 cotton-covered armature wire, and a cardboard ■ tube 3 inches long by % of an inch in'diameter. (Wind the wire around the cardboard tube, closely' together; back and forth in layers from one end to another, until all the wire is used. Connect the ends of the wire to the batteries. Wrap the coil with adhesive tape. Print the word “CHRIST” oh the coil. Paint the spike black.) • LESSON: This large black spike can easily knock the nail over. [Stand the nail up on its head.] As I look, at this spike and see hoW easily it knocks the nail1over, I am reminded of Satan and the power he has over people. In 1 Peter 5:8 we read, “Your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” We would indeed be fearful, were it not for the fact that Christ protects us against the power of Satan. show how Christ does this, I will put the nail inside the coil marked “CHRIST.” ; [Make and break the con tact, with the coil about two inches above the table.] The nail has new life, as indicated by its jumping up and down. Look, the coil carries the nail along, keeping it out of the reach of the black spike. [As long as the contact is unbroken, the nail will remain inside the coil.] As we see how safely and securely the nail is kept inside the coil, we are reminded of the Christians mentioned in the Book of Revelation, who were kept from the power of Satan. “And they overcame him [Satan] by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death” (Rev. 12:11)1

T ^HE “NEW HEAVEN” (v. 1) re. fers to the eternal state where in every trace of sin will have been put away. At that time, God will be able, righteously, to tabernacle with men as such without distinction of race or nation. Thé “new earth” also refers to the eternal state.
