(’35) and Mrs. Lyons (Helen Vfilliams, ’36), 108 15th No., Seattle, Wash., arb serving in the Calvary Chris­ tian Church of Seattle, where Mr. Lyons has been called as .pastor. J. C. and Mrs. Slocum (Adda Payne), 427 Santa Fe Drive, Denver, Colo., on furlough from service under the Mid- Africa Mission at Bakouma, French Equatorial Africa, ask for prayer for guidance during their time in America, and that the door may be kept open for the gospel in their field. Robert J. (’28) and Mrs. Patterson (Helen M. Lynn, ’28)- have been serv­ ing since August of 1940 in the First Baptist Church of Petaluma, Calif., where Mr.-Patterson is pastor. James Brown, B. Th. ’39, has been serving as pastor of the Presbyterian Church at Quincy, Wash., under the Presbyterian Board of National Mis­ sions. He was graduated from the Seattle Pacific College, Seattle, Wash., on June 9. Albert (B. Th. ’39) and Mrs. Van Dyk (Anna Vanden Hoek) and their two children, Bert, 10, and Betty Ann; 3, have been living in Holland, Mrch., where Mr. Van Dyk was graduated on May 13 from, the Western Theological Seminary, He has been called to the pastorate of the Reformed Church of Lucas, Mich., to take up his new duties about August 1. Roy V*: Nelson, ’40, is serving; the First Baptist Church of La Mesa, Calif. Samuel Fisk, 2310 Merton Ave., LoS Angeles, Calif., since June 1, has been' serving temporarily as the acting pas­ tor of Trinity Congregational Church, Los Angeles. . J. Vincent Richards, ’36, was ordained to the gospel ministry on June 18 in the Baptist Church' at Ceres,' Calif., ■where Paul Jackson is pastor. Claude H. Pearson, ’21, of Pearson’s Sailor Work, 624—38th St., Sail Pedro, Calif., writes that the new location of his home is four blocks from one of the main entrances to Fort MacArthur, and he and Mrs. Pearson (Sylvia M. Fox, ’22) hope that Christian young men will feel free to use it as a meet­ ing place for fellowship in the Lord. He'adds, “If you know any who will be coming this way, be sure to send us their names and complete addresses—di­ visions, etc., so we can contact thefri and help them contact other' Christian men. . . . We have'counted twenty-five places where the boys can purchase liquor right on the main street (Pacific Avenue) as they go down town, but not one place where they can go in and be quiet. We want to open a room where they may go in, write letters, meet some consecrated Christian friend and get away from the temptations that ensnare military men. . . . Our main objectivé is to encourage and instruct the. Chris­ tian boy or church youth who is fight­ ing to live clean. This is a matter for believing prayer and immediate prayer,” Otis L. J., where Mr. Priddy has been pastor. Following his graduation from Biola, Mr. Priddy àtténded Des Moines University and was graduated from Wheaton College. He received the degree of B. Th. from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary, Philadelphia, Pa., in 1939.
